Python Lists
Lists are used to store multiple items in a single variable. Lists are one of 4 built-in data types in Python used to store collections of data, the other 3 are Tuple, Set, and Dictionary, all with different qualities and usage.

Python Lists - GeeksforGeeks
Python list stores references to objects, not the actual values directly. The list keeps memory addresses of objects like integers, strings or booleans.

Python Lists (With Code Visualization)
August 4, 2026 - The most common way to create a list is by placing items inside square brackets [], separated by commas. For example, cart = ["T-shirt", "Lamp", "Pen"] print(cart) # A list of mixed data types my_list = [1, "Python", 3.14] print(my_list) # Empty list my_list = [] print(my_list)

How to work with the Python list data type | InfoWorld
September 6, 2023 - Lists are heterogenous; they can accept objects of any type. Whatโs more, there is a separate array type in Python. The Python array is designed to emulate the behavior of an array in C, and itโs meant chiefly to allow Python to work with C arrays. The array type is useful in those cases, but in almost every pure-Python case youโll want to use lists.

Python Tutorial: Object Types - Lists - 2020
List object is the more general sequence provided by Python. Lists are ordered collections of arbitrarily typed objects. They have no fixed size. In other words, they can hold arbitrary objects and can expand dynamically as new items are added.

You can type a list as of Python 3.5
https://docs.python.org/3/library/typing.html
from typing import List
vector: List[float] = list()
or
from typing import List
vector: List[float] = []
Python is dynamically typed however https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0484/
Typing makes it easier to read code, easier understand it, make efficient use of your IDE tooling and create higher quality software. I guess that's why it's in the PEP.

Like Dominus said,
from typing import List is deprecated since Python 3.9.
You don't need to import anything, you can just use list.
Example:
my_list: list[float] = list()

Now we will go into other data types that can combine multiple values or strings. Lists are common data structures to hold a sequence of elements. We can create a list by putting values inside square brackets and separating the values with commas. ... Each element can be accessed by an index. The index of the first element in a list in Python is 0 (in some other programming languages that would be 1).

A list is a data type in python. In other programming languages they are mostly called Arrays. Here's an example of one: numbers = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] With list slices you can access list elements: print(numbers[0:5]) #prints all numbers in the list, because lists indexing starts from 0 print(numbers[0:5:2]) #prints only odd numbers (the first argument is what element to start from, second is what element to go to and third is step) Slices can also be used to reverse a list: print(numbers[::-1]).

Python Lists
It returns an iterable representing the series of numbers, and fortunately the for-loop works fine with an iterable. However, list-specific functions like append() and remove() do not work on iterables. If you have an iterable and need a list, it's easy to construct a list from the iterable like this: ... Why do Python functions return an iterable instead of a full list?
