How valuable is the Udacity SQL beginner course?
Most of what you need can be learnt on youtube. And getting access to an actual database to mess around in is 100x more useful than sitting in 'tutorial hell'. And SQL is incredibly useful, although not so much by itself. Almost every software developer will come up against it as some point. Its used heavily in finance for analytics. More on reddit.com

I'm 31, basically been working in mediocre finance transactional roles for years & never really had consistent work.
I'm at a stage where I know I have two options in front of me, learn new skills & adapt for the future... Or do nothing & fall behind.
I've been looking at coursera & Udacity a lot lately because I wanted to try learn some skills that could maybe get me out of finance, or begin to make a bridge out of the finance landscape, & get me more into tech, while also being able to increase my marketability & worth.
I don't have a computer science degree (only an accounting degree which I didn't really enjoy tbh) so I'm not a computer wizard, although i'm no scrub with computers & have had a lifelong interest in tech in general, from dealing with difficult software & some light Powershell use, to taking apart playstations or laptops to repaste thermals and stuff, you get the idea.
My question to you guys is, is the Udacity SQL course a worthwhile investment in your opinion?
Right now it's available at $170 for 2 months access of their nanodegree program & could be something useful to help get me moving forward.
But I don't really know the value of SQL in job markets, or it's usefulness across many careers.

Let me recommend an alternative: Relational Databases and SQL (edX) I would also recommend the other Database courses from Stanford on edX as they give you more in-depth knowledge, especially in modeling. But this course should already give you a good idea about SQL.
