June 3, 2024New to SQL - Will a 2022 Bootcamp Udemy Course help?
The basics (and most of the advanced features) of SQL haven't changed for a long while. Don't worry about it the 2022 course will be a fine place to start. SQL isn't like javascript where the whole industry may have moved on to new frameworks and tools. Udemy I find the most important thing is the teacher - if they are good and can communicate well go for it. Lots of companies are still using postgres versions that are at least this old :)
R, Pandas, python I would say are a bit more changeable but trhats not to say there isn't value in an older course.

I've just finished "SQL - Introduction to SQL with MySQL" by Kyle Pew (Udemy), and really enjoyed.
Have started "Complete SQL and Databases Bootcamp: Zero to Mastery" by Andrei Neagoie (also Udemy) which goes into a lot more depth.

Udemy is kind of hit or miss, I've taken courses that gave me a lot of value, and then others that didn't. With that said, For something like SQL it should be fine, and the buy to own model means you can take your time. Pluralsight is better curated but pricier, and has a different business model. It's a subscription service, but allows you take as many courses as you like. So if you are planning on no-lifeing it, Pluralsight might be a better value as you can pick up not only sql skills but skills related to sql.

I learned SQL on Udemy taking Jose Portilla's Complete SQL Bootcamp. It's definitely legitimate, I completed the class and put the certificate on my resume to help me get my job.
