I have a custom made solid wood desk that I don’t want to drill into. A cable tray would be great but it would require screws to be stable, right?
I've decided that for my gaming/streaming setup I'm planning to build towards the end of the idea, I'm going with an IKEA hack for my desk: The 74" version of the KARLBY, two ALEX drawers with furniture legs installed on the top, and an OLOV leg in the middle for extra support. I'm in the middle of putting together a shopping list for everything I'll need for cable management and so far I'm thinking of cable clips, cable ties, Velcro ties, etc. However, I'm conflicted about whether or not to buy a J channel cable raceway or something like a SIGNUM rack. Overall, I'm just overwhelmed with trying to figure out everything that I will need. I'm wondering what kind of cable management solution you'd recommend for this IKEA hack? For this setup, I'm planning on putting triple monitors, my peripherals, my PC, and streaming gear (specifically microphone, audio interface, Stream Deck, webcam, and ring light) onto my desk. I don't know how much more helpful that is, but I thought it wouldn't hurt! I'd appreciate any and all recommendations on what you all think I should buy for day one! 😊
The Ikea Trotten tabletop is made of particleboard. What is the best method to mount cable management trays underneath it?
Options I've heard so far are: Screwing them in, using double-sided gorilla tape, or look into using velcro pads. To my understanding, particleboard is not very durable when it comes to screwing things into it, although some people have had success doing this. There still seems to be debate on the best method to use mount these trays.
I have cable management trays that I am eager to mount underneath my Trotten desk but am stuck, as I don't want to damage the desk. Feedback would be appreciated! Also curious of the best method to mount power bars underneath this desk, as well, as I've also acquired power bars that I can screw underneath the desk, but am now debating if I should install them at all (the cable management trays can fit think single power bars only).
