Small brand out of Europe . Can’t remember the name, something like “Locosti”. Little alligator on their shirts. Very much old-money-at-Monaco meets pale British tourist vibes. Answer from Scary_Trash9997 on reddit.com

Underground Streetwear. Stuff that’s barely breaking the scene?

I’m looking for some underground stuff/brands/sites to browse to make a pair of new color block AF1s pop.

Preferably American so I don’t have to wait for over seas shipping unless you know a company that is speedy and prompt.

Minimalistic also. Scoured most sites you find on the surface from a quick google search. Vetements is cool but over seas.

Also techwear? What are you all coping

The "Brands that won't survive 2025/hate watch" post was interesting. I'm asking for the opposite. What are some brands that are either:

  • Up and coming, and will take a big step forward in 2025

  • Trending now and will continue to be strong

Some people were fiery with their hate posts; I want that same energy for brands y'all are supporting big time for '25

Update: the feedback has been so helpful. I’m bookmarking this and will refer to it all throughout the year.

r/mensfashion on Reddit: Exclusive, Understated Fashion Brands in NYC?
March 19, 2025 -

Hey everyone, I just moved to NYC from Florida, and I’ve been noticing a big difference in how people here approach high fashion. Back in Florida, if you wanted something exclusive or high-end, you’d just hit up the big names—Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry, etc. But in NYC, it seems like people lean more toward subtle, understated brands that are still high fashion and exclusive.

One brand I’ve been really into lately is Aimé Leon Dore. I like that it’s exclusive (only has stores in NYC and London), so you don’t see it everywhere. Their pieces are trendy but still accessible—things don’t sell out in minutes, and you don’t have to camp outside the store just to get in. I’m not the type to be glued to my computer 24/7 trying to cop a drop before it’s gone—I prefer the freedom to buy when I want.

What are some other brands like Aimé Leon Dore that I should check out in NYC? Looking for something exclusive, stylish, and a bit under-the-radar, but still attainable. Would love to hear your recommendations!

r/ThrowingFits on Reddit: Underrated brands list? (A companion to the overrated brands thread)

Someone remarked in the other thread that we should do an underrated list—so let’s do it. I always enjoy hearing about stuff I should be paying more attention to anyway… I’ll start (and I’m interpreting this as underrated among TFers or in the contemporary “cool” menswear space in general):

J. Press — granted, they make no attempt to market themselves as anything but the most trad of trad/ivy torchbearers, but their sweater game is ridiculous, their Oxford cloth button-downs are gold standards, their tweed and corduroy jackets are stunning… Ties, belts, rugby shirts… Glorious stuff! Almost entirely US-made! And without the occasional cosplay vibes of Ralph (God bless him).

Freenote Cloth — beautifully constructed American-made classic/“heritage” stuff; I just never see them mentioned around these parts. I have a corduroy trucker jacket of theirs that is god-tier and never fails to get compliments.

I'm searching for unique street fashion pieces. No overpriced brands like Prada, Louis Vitton or similar but more like smaller local designers or any kind of cool asian street fashion that you guys can recommend. Im quite open for nearly anything thats not too overpriced (under 350 USD for one piece). Male and female is both interesting.

Thank you :)

You're getting a muted response because when you say "street fashion," that is a very broad category. If you shared what brands or styles you are looking for, then that would be helpful. But here is my crack: 8Five2 Shop - Located in Causeway Bay, it's an institution for the local skate scene. They carry their own brands 8Five2 and Know1edge as well as homegrown brands like Victoria. Juice Store - One location in CWB and the other in K11. The store was co-founded by Edison Chen and carries his line CLOT and other brands like Medicom's Bearbrick, Needles, Readymade, etc. DelStore - In a hidden pocket of CWB, this is probably Hong Kong's best Kapital stockist and some other smaller Japanese brands. Wander Kagu - In CWB, for fans of the Japanese outdoor and "heavy duty" style, this store carries New Balance, Orslow, AndWander, etc. Cotwo - In CWB, it's a proxy store/resell for goods from Japan, but it is purely for the golden era streetwear fan. They have been around since the early 2000's and they carry goods like Kapital and a (now) lot of older now-archival pieces from Fragment, Mastermind, Neighborhood, etc. HBX - Located in the Landmark, it's owned by Hypebeast which is HK-based. They carry brands like Saint Michael, Stone Island, and Humanmade. D-Mop - A select shop with locations across HK with avant-garde brands like Rick Owens, Y-3, Margiela, and other ones like This Never That, Heron Preston, etc. I.T. - This is the monster in Hong Kong retail as they have the distribution rights to many brands as well as own BAPE. Many of the stores across HK like Margiela and Rick Owens are actually just standalone shops owned and operated by I.T. I.T. has a flagship in CWB (not to be confused with i.t.) that carries designer brands (Junya, Julius, Rick) and is also connected to ExI.T. that has more younger street brands (Needles, Neighborhood, etc.). Also look for standalone stores in the Landmark for Mihara, Neighborhood, WTAPS, Mastermind vs. Bathing Ape, etc. K11 Art Mall Musea - It's a shopping mall complex in TST, but has standalone stores for Juice, Stone Island, Off White, J-01, Mark Gonzalez, Kura Chika (Yoshida Kaban), Open Dialogue, and Public Tokyo (Select shop for all Japanese brands).

Hello,

I am looking for some underground outdoor brands to support right now. I do enjoy wearing The North Face, Patagonia, and other popular brands but sometimes I wish I had gear that not everyone wears. Plus, I would love to support them during the pandemic. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Where are you located? Try looking for companies that make stuff locally - pretty much guaranteed to be more expensive though, but generally you'll get much better customer service, and you can feel good about contributing to the local economy! Some cool smaller companies I've found around the world... Earth Sea Sky - All kinds of outdoor gear, all made in NZ. Their designs are pretty old school and you definitely won't be shedding any weight using it, but that's because they prioritise toughness over weight. Founded by the grandson of the guy who made the gear used by Ed Hillary on the first ascent of Everest which is pretty cool! Cactus Outdoor - Another NZ-made company, these guys are more of a crossover outdoor/workwear company. A lot of their stuff is made from canvas so will probably last beyond the heat death of the universe. Crackpacs - Upcycled backpacks made from old tent material and climbing ropes and all made by hand in England. Every one will be unique! Mafia Bags - Same idea as Crackpacs, but made from upcycled sails in California, and with a more urban style. Feathered Friends - Pretty well known down gear company from the Pacific Northwest. Tundra Sleeping Bags - Made-to-order down sleeping bags (and a few other accessories) from Poland. You can order your bag slightly over- or under-filled if you like the look of one but want it to have a slightly different temperature rating. Zpacks - Ultralight tents, packs and other bits and pieces. Legendary with thru-hikers who want the absolute lightest gear possible. Hilleberg - Definitely better known, but I cannot emphasise enough how amazing these tents are. The design is just fantastic, every little thing you can think of has been addressed, and you could probably drop a bomb on them and they would still be standing. Despite that, the weight is not off the charts. All of this does come at a bit of an eye-watering cost though...

r/streetwear on Reddit: [Discussion] What are some cool underground hoodie and clothing brands?
February 20, 2017 -

I would like if they had some nice sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, and pants. I have exhausted all the brands I know and would love some new stuff. I’m pretty flexible on the style and everything and have no set budget. Some brands I have worn in the past are civil regime, supreme, bape, alien body, and lots of adidas. (I know not anything suuuuper underground besides civil regime) I don’t wear short sleeves or anything but I love hoodies and long sleeve shirts! Also love the style of clothing the Hyv carries. that type of style is my type of stuff.

I like very simple clothing or things that have cool, original designs with words on it.

The reason I like underground as opposed to mainstream is so that I or other people haven’t seen it everywhere.
