New homeowner learning the basics. The kitchen sink we've inherited (see photo) has a gap between it and the counter above. The silicone has long since lost its seal (was rented before we took possession and they were living with it like this - you can see the black buildup where water has been splashing through).
The sink is held up by two brackets mounted to the sides of the cabinet. I've already got some shims to help lift the sink without needing to move the brackets, but also want to make sure I get this done right.
How is this really supposed to be done? Does it depend on my counter material? (May be quartz but I'm not sure off-hand).
I had the countertop installed on my DIY bathroom vanity today. They installed my undermount sink as well. I wasn’t home when they installed and so I couldn’t ask this question: are these brackets/supports temporary or permanent?
