Agree with what everyone else has said about decluttering before buying. As far as recs go, I got these under-bed boxes from Ikea and they have been a game changer for me. They're great for storing off-season clothing and linens. Canvas lining/wicker allows for there to be oxygen flow, unlike plastic bins, and the wicker (as opposed to just canvas bins) keeps them from getting icky. More on reddit.com

Having lived in a few small studios in different cities, I have a few recommendations… Under the bed dresser (I used brimnes but I think nordli would be a better choice now; it’s more modular) Elvarli - can build shelves and drawers up to the ceiling (height adjustable) and also a good room divider. Best part is that you don’t need to drill! I’ve used the tension rods without drilling with no problem since you can tighten it until it’s secured (however, be careful not to tighten too much and measure the shelves before doing so. It’s a bit of a pain at first but worth it when it comes together!). Can also use one of the longer shelves as a table or desk, depending on your setup. (In my old studio, I would’ve used this instead of a kitchen table between my living room and kitchen, but I have limitations in my new studio). Kallax book cases - these can be multipurpose as room dividers and different shelving options. Also great to use as a tv console and extra storage if turned on its side. I recommend getting the shelf insert boxes that can be folded. This can also work as for storing extra clothes or blankets. Rolling kitchen carts - FÖRHÖJA carts are great and can work as a small island or as extra prep space. Love that there is now also a smaller size. They also have extra space for storing utensils and other things. Ikea’s new small folding chairs are cheap and comfy. I like Nisse for comfort. The Lack wall shelf unit is great for tight spaces for extra storage or shelves. Panel curtains like VATTENAX can also be stylish room dividers. Try to get as many versatile and modular drawer units as possible, particularly rolling ones like Alex. They can be great as an alternative, slender dresser or to double up with office storage. Get a table top and legs that you can fit a smaller drawer unit under to use as a desk, or a modular table that can be multifunctional like Norden. I would recommend a modular sofa with storage like Valentuna. Since this was out of stock at ikea for several months, I found something similar on Amazon. Cheers and good luck! More on reddit.com

Look for the shortest cheap plastic dresser option at places like Walmart, and look for the tallest bed legs. Sounds weird but I had a tall bed when I lived in my studio apartment and it was excellent for storage under it. You could also consider a loft bed. When I had a small room in a shared apartment I had a loft bed and was able to fit my desk and a dresser underneath. Added a ton of space to the room. More on reddit.com
