Hello,
I believe I need to update the Bios of my Asus ROG Strix B650-A Wifi MB and not sure on how. I went to the ASUS site and downloaded the latest version 3222. Mine is 3024, how ever, their are several versions in between my current and the newest, do I need to download all of them to make sure I have all updates? Also, when I used the renamer, it did not add the .CAP, so I did it myself, is this ok?
I have an ASUS Maximus ROG XIII Hero with BIOS v0707 and would like to update to the latest version (1301) but I’ve never updated a BIOS before.
Any tips/help/guidance?
Thank you
Ps: Asus internet bios update service does not work anymore (I’ve heard this one was the easy way)

I followed all steps on YT to update my friends pc as he is going from a amd 500 to a amd ryzen 7 3700x and its not working im trying to update bios but i get this issue
Hello, what is the proper way to update new bought motherboard's bios? Installing all updates from old to new or just installing latest update will be ok?
Greetings, I am currently using a ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI motherboard, and I am trying to update Bios version from BIOS 0613 to BIOS 0821 .
I tried using the EZ Flash and updating it manually in my BIOS, but after doing so, the PC restarted instantly and CPU red light indicator on my motherboard. I had to do a flashback, back to the BIOS version 0613 to get my system to POST.
Should I try using the ASUS AI Suite 3 V3.03.17 app instead to update BIOS? I am confused, because I believe there is the same functionality occuring between an EZ Flash procedure and updating through the AI Suite application. Any help/tips would be great, as I am trying to get on that 0821 version to better support system performance, 40 series cards, and DRAM optimization.
Cheers!
I have many issues with Asus Motherboards, Asus products in general and AM5 specifically. RMA dramas and horror stories.
To avoid many issues and to live slightly happier with Asus (like living with a wife that hates you but not as much as you hate her out of convenience); Please make sure to follow these steps or adapt them to your needs: For Bios updates (sadly frequent for the unfortunate beta testers aka AM5 users) is necessary and must be done; I do the following:
-
Download latest Bios
-
From Asus's support Bios Download website for your Motherboard/Device
-
From ROG forum for Beta Bios For those who dare! (the official moto of ROG by Asus!)
-
-
Reboot and reset current bios to defaults (AM5 necessary unfortunately to avoid massive issues)
-
Boot back to Windows
-
Disable memory integrity in Windows. Image
-
Open EZ Update (AISuite)
-
Load Bios
-
Change Logo (optional) by clicking the "My Logo" button -> Mine is attached for inspiration, MB is actually my name, funny I know.
-
Click on the Flash Bios Button
-
It will reboot and flash.
-
Boot to Bios
-
Reset to default (again!)
-
Reboot again back to Bios (Due to some bugs in the past, it's preferred to reboot once you load defaults before changes).
-
Make your changes (cannot use a user saved settings across different Agesa version) For me that's turning off RGB and enabling EXPO profile for RAM + adjust Ram training changes frequency and the SAD Asus AI AMD overclocking to (more likely to change after each training) as well as changing optimism rate to 125% (AFAIK will adjust curve optimiser to non 3D cores lower as long as it doesn't crash during use - not during training on cold boots)
-
Change Secure boot to Enabled (Windows)
-
Reset secure boot TPM2.0 keys (otherwise windows secure boot will not be enabled in Windows).
-
Save and reboot
-
Enter Recovery key for BitLocker if you use encryption.
-
Boot Windows
-
Check secure boot is enabled.
-
Re-Enable Memory integrity in Windows.
-
Stress test Memory and do your benchmarks.
-
Test USB ports for failures and speed (Asus MBs are really sh!tty)
-
Hopefully you won't need to do that for another 15-25 days :'(
Notes:
-
AI suite is uninstalled. However, the only decent, supported and easy way to edit your official BIOS is using EZ Update. For example, and that's the only reason I use the EZ Update is to change the silly ROG logo on boot and put a simpler more my age Logo for boot.
-
I uninstalled all Asus software except for EZ Update (by installing AI suite and removing all components except EZ Update).
*Use this at your own risk, the info there works for me and saves me a lot of headaches and drama, if you don't like any of the steps or don't need it, simply disregard it.
At lease see how I do it and give feedback if you think I can do something better.

I have a new PC build. My motherboard is Asus Rog Strix X670E-A Gaming Wifi with a Ryzen 7800x3D.
The BIOS version shipped with the motherboard and currently installed is v 1415 (5/16/2023).
I'm not experiencing any issues but since the current BIOS is so old, would you recommend updating to the current version (1905 - 2/7/24)?
Thanks for the advice.
i have a custom build pc and i need to update the bios on my asus motherboard but im new to this and not exactly sure how can someone please tell me
What's going on at Asus? I wanted to download the latest BIOS version for the ASUS B850 MAX GAMING WIFI W, but there are no drivers or BIOS versions available for download on the website.
I have a Prime Z790-V wifi and i have the zip file with the update from the support website i just don't know how to use it I've never even opened BIOS. Thanks.
I recently built a new pc, using a Ryzen 5 5600X processor and a Prime B550M-A wifi ll motherboard. I need to update bios on my motherboard, I do not have windows, but I do have the update on a usb, where do I put the usb and how do I update it?
I've bought the AMD 5600x, but before switching my actual cpu to this one, I have to update the BIOS to make sure my motherboard will be able to run the recent CPU. Makes sense.
Despite I struggle which method to update the BIOS to choose, I watch this video explaining how to update the BIOS : https://youtu.be/_aBiTr6tpcs
In this video, the guy said that was preferable to update by step ie: using previous BIOS updates before using the newest update, especially if the MB had never been updated before. Is that true?
Because that's the case : This will be my first ever attempt to upgrade my MB I'm using right now since I bought it last year.
Should I use the recent BIOS update , or I have to go through a gauntlet of previous BIOS upgrades before installing the new one ?
My MB is a ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING
Officially, Asus lists 3 ways to update BIOS: two methods need a FAT formatted USB drive, the third method needs AI Suite 3 / EZ Update software. I've found a fourth method than needs neither a USB drive nor any Asus software/bloatware installed, and is actually the easiest to use.
My method uses EZ Flash 3 utility that is baked into UEFI BIOS, but it doesn't need a USB drive to read the new bios update file. What Asus doesn't say and what I accidentally found out it that EZ Flash 3 can read NTFS drives. You can simply download the bios file to your main C:/ (Windows) drive and update from there. Here's are the instructions in detail:
-
Download the latest BIOS update from ASUS support page for your specific motherboard.
-
After unzip, a .CAP file will appear, this is the BIOS update file. OPTIONAL: Move this file somewhere where it's easy to navigate, such as C:\.
-
Restart computer and press F2 to enter BIOS. Select Advanced Mode (F7), go to Tool > ASUS EZ Flash 3 utility. Under Storage Device(s) locate your main drive (It's usually the biggest one). Navigate to the .CAP file and click YES/OK to confirm update.
The bios flashing last about 5 minutes. When the progress bar is completed, click OK to reboot. That's it.
Needless to say, this method will not work if your drive is encrypted or if you have older non-UEFI bios motherboard that doesn't have Flash 3 utility.
It works for me on my B550 mobo and Windows. Let me know if it works for you.
My Asus ROG Strix G16 was working perfectly at night, but in the morning it started restarting randomly and now it won't even turn on, it just freezes with the logo. I've disconnected the RAM and SSD and it didn't make any difference. I suspect it could be the BIOS since I noticed on the Asus website that it was updated 3 days ago, but I don't remember turning it off or interrupting the update. I even fell asleep without shutting down the laptop. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue or has anyone else experienced something similar?
So I have an Asus A320M-K Prime motherboard that i wanted to do a BIOS update. I have that motherboard since I think around 2018 and Its BIOS is still currently on version 4027 I think if im not mistaken. My questions is this:
-
is it safe if i just update the BIOS straight to the latest stable version, which i think is Version 6042?
-
Currently the CPU that is installed to that motherboard is Ryzen 5 2400G, will i lose support to this CPU?
-
Any reason not to do this update?
My main reason in wanted to conduct this update is that my brand new is under performing, which i believe is because of the BIOS version is the culprit.
