I’m trying to return an Amazon order and the only option available is UPS pickup. I’ve tried calling Amazon to just give me the label or for other options but that didn’t work. Since I won’t be at the dorm most of the day how does the return process work? Do I just give it to the mail room people and tell them to give it to the UPS guy or can I tell the mail room people to ask for the label from the UPS person so I can drop it off it myself? I don’t feel comfortable leaving my return in the mail room unattended and I don’t know what to do from here.
So I'm going through an Amazon return and normally it lets me drop them off with a pre-printed label at a UPS store (which is less than a 5 minute walk from my apartment, super convenient) but now it's only letting do me do an unlabeled UPS pickup which doesn't make practical sense since I'm in a large NYC high rise with 100+ apartments. UPS doesn't come door to door to deliver packages, they just drop them off with the valet.
I *could* just leave the package downstairs with the valet but since there is no label, how can I know that UPS received it and know what they are even supposed to do with it? Do I like just put a sticky note on it with my name?
I'm tempted to try and go to the UPS store but I suspect they can't do much without a pre-printed label

I've shopped on Amazon for decades now and have returned hundreds of items. Usually the returns are easy and its a drop off at your local wholefoods or the UPS store with a label.
For the first time in seeing the only option as "UPS Pickup.
Meaning i have to coordinate with UPS on the phone, wait for a courier all day potentially, print additional documents and instructions. (Not like people have jobs or anything)
And no, you cannot drop off the item at the UPS store, it HAS to be picked up.
I wish I could know the return options ahead of time so I could NOT order that item.
Edit - I called UPS asking how the courier was going to get in touch with me. Was told that they were NOT. They are supposed to "buzz" my number. Im currently in a condo with a front desk, no numbers to buzz. Still no courier to be seen.
This type of return-only policy has to be done on purpose - to discourage people from returning expensive items which will immediately lose value and have to be restocked, yikes.
i have a large item i need to return to Amazon with UPS pickup, it says they will bring a label and i need to be home, but i work alot and most likely won't be here to meet the driver.
Can i just leave the package outside my home with a note saying its for UPS? I live in a pretty rural area, so i'm not afraid of it getting stolen.
Hi everyone,
Early last week Amazon initiated a free return for me where UPS would come pickup my bed frame. In the Amazon app, it says the carrier will schedule a time to pickup my return within 2 business days and they have my contact info.
However, it’s been more than 2 business days and no one has contacted me to schedule pickup and no one from UPS has come to pick it up.
Has anyone had this happen before? How do I get someone to come pick it up? Thanks!
This is the second round of starting Amazon return with UPS home pickup being the only option. The first time three business days went by without UPS knocking on the door. This is the second return attempt and the end of the second business day. Nothing happened. I work from home and no UPS driver knocked. Don't want to leave the package outside and get stolen. Does Amazon make returning more expensive items difficult on purpose? Called UPS through Amazon multiple times without any useful information. Long time Amazonian really frustrated. The posts didn't seem to have anything new to say. Returning through whole foods has been smooth and reliable without issue. Why is UPS home pickup only? Guess I haven't returned many things over the years to understand.
The only option was the pickup by ups no cost and the product was only wrapped in an amazon plastic bag. It is first time doing this as usually I would do ups drop off and do not wrap in a box.
Now, is ups pickup and the direction said put in box and I don't have one sitting around and the item did not come in a box. It is an apple watch and I am wondering if I can just put in the amazon plastic bag and give it to the ups driver when picking it up.
Trying to return a small appliance to Amazon but the only return option provided was "UPS pick-up"; Amazon also specifically noted that "An adult must be present". However as I work full time I will not be able to stay home and wait for the UPS driver during the day.
My question is, If I accept the "UPS pick up" option but instead drop the item off at a UPS store, will that work? Will a UPS store accept an Amazon return that's scheduled for UPS pick up?
Or, can I actually leave the package on my porch for the UPS driver to pick up? I live in a very safe community so I don't worry about theft at all; I can even leave a note on package saying this is the return package please pick it up; just don't know if it would be against UPS/Amazon policy for pick up, considering Amazon specifically says "An adult must be present".
I don’t know the time frame of when to leave the package out for UPS to pick up and do I have to be there or I can just leave it outside ? Thanks ahead!
Edit: Thank you all for the helps! The UPS driver just picked it up. Nice guy, he explained to me about the receipt and the tracking number. Offered him a cold bottle of water, he accepted it and seem very appreciative.
I purchased an iphone 13, just over a month ago.
I didnt use it as it was a present but the recipient had received one already.
I went to amazon before 30 days ended to return, it only gave me the option or a "UPS pickup" to return the item. I did not choose UPS pickup because i have work , I emailed them and they told me i have no other options.
FYI "UPS pickup" means a driver will arrive ANYTIME between 9am-5pm during monday-friday to send the item back to amazon.
Even if i was on the weekend, i would not trust a UPS driver. Because they could swap the item and i would be blamed. They dont give a receipt either.
I would use royal mail special delivery and insure it to cover me if anything happens.
I work and i cannot be at home.
Under the consumer rights act 2015 i am entitled to a refund within 6 months if any fault occurs.
I emailed jeff and john boumphrey, still i get the same response from the indian reps.
It seems amazon are doing this on purpose, because they dont want me to return the iphone .
I barely return items i buy, and when i have done they gave me a qr code or i returned the item myself (which was far more expensive than the iphone)
What can i do, besides chargeback or small claims court?
Has anyone experienced this, i have read amazon have started doing this since last summer/autumn.
How is this legal since this is essentially a way to prevent any returns, as almost everyone works during 9-5 and even if someone does not it is unsafe to send such an expensive item to amazon without insurance and a receipt to prove you did not send back empty box.
I did not use a Credit card, just my regular debit.
I need this money, and even if i did not its the principle of UPS pickup instead of having a return using royal mail.
I wont be purchasing from amazon again.
I left the box out all day for UPS. I kept checking. I had my window blinds open. Until 6:00 pm the box was still there. Then a few minutes later I saw the UPS truck. They normally leave a receipt under my front door mat. So I went out to get the receipt---> no receipt was left. Then I went to the UPS site to see the updates--->no updates/scan...until this moment . I'm very upset as I have been buying from Amazon for 12 years, I buy 99% of my needs from them...I receive orders 2 to 3 times a week. So I have returned purchases thru UPS pickup (maybe more than 50 times..it used to be free pick up). Every single time the UPS driver left a receipt except this time. I called Amazon to let them know. He didn't scan it either! What I'm worried about is if the driver didn't attach the shipping label to the box...then they wouldn't know what to do with the box! It could get lost...unless there is a way to trace it!
BTW, the UPS site still says---> "Scheduled for pick up 2/19/24" and we are already 2/20!
Ordered something then got looking at and decided it was not what I was wanting. Started a return usually they just say drop off at UPS or post office, schedule a pickup USPS, UPS, etc. This one is like no other option UPS pickup pickup will be tried 3 times in next 3 business days. And oh an adult has to be there UMM I am the only one and work all day now what? They don't even give you a legit label to print leaving it up the the UPS driver so I can't even take to any drop point. Nice they try to make simpler many maybe don't have printers but then have to make it so you have no other options. I'd rather spend $10 and pay to ship it back than try and have to jump through hoops.
I bought a item off Amazon which was already in the same city as me, and i needed it returned back so i used the ups pickup feature off amazon which they say
Before UPS comes, securely pack your return. UPS will bring a prepaid label for your package. UPS will pick up your return package on the next business day. An adult must be present. If the first attempt fails, UPS will try again 2 more times on the next 2 business days.
However when ups came they never gave me no type of label or nothing they just came and too it, it has been 4 days now with no updates or tracking number the package was already in the same city as me when it was delivered to me so it should take 4 days for them to return it back. WHAT DO I DO?? Do i continue to wait and they will eventually give me a tracking number or do i start searching in public.
Recently, I've tried a return to Amazon and the only option available to me is for UPS to pick up from my house. The return instruction states that the UPS personnel will come with the prepaid label; however, when said person arrived to my door, they didn't have anything on them, no label to scan to show that someone from UPS had picked up my package, nor is there any other paper trail, and he was just going to take my package that's worth closed to $500 to walk away.
I was so surprised of how unprofessional it was, so I refused to give him the package as I won't have any proof that this person walked away with $500 worth of my items without any tracking. He said he will return the next day with a pre-printed label the NEXT day, and it has been 10 days from said claim. No UPS personnel ever came back.
Just called Amazon again to make a new return request, and unfortunately as the items are Apple Airpod Pros, the only option is to have UPS pick up. The CSR told me not to worry because they would have a pre-printed label and once scanned, they would know the items were picked up. The unfortunate part is... They did NOT come with any label and was just going to walk away with my package. It's only then that Amazon CSR advised me should the UPS personnel come again without any labels to scan or any paper trail (with this new return), call them immediately after the person pick the package up. I will do that, but I will also come out with my phone to record the exchange for proof that they did pick up the package.
Imagine this driver picking up 30 packages or more from various houses on their route, without any labels to track which is which, how would s/he remembers which packages belong to whom when s/he gets back to the center? Who's to say s/he doesn't have a designated drop off (at a house that's on their route and meet up with an accomplish) to hand off our unaccounted packages, then it will be a he says she says, their words against ours as to where the items may be? On their route during the day, it would still look like they were just driving along their route and didn't make any deviation, but ofc someone else can also happen to park across the street of a house where s/he is stopping to get those packages :) Not to claim that it is happening, but always a possibility.
There was a return I made to Kohls last November and Amazon claimed that I had only returned 1 of the 2 items when I was certain I had dropped off both. Make sure you take pictures of items you bring anywhere to return at the drop off location & the scanned label. IN between the transit from the drop off to the warehouse to be process, someone had "inadvertently" got items lost so much more frequently now. Be sure to protect your own assets. Not to be negative, but do take all precautions to protect yourself even if a seemingly saint had made promises. Lately, there has been so many lost items and amazon customer service/return has been shoddy at best.
Hey, so I ordered a bed frame and it was defective so I placed a replacement for it on Amazon, since it's a heavy item they arranged for a UPS pickup.
I placed the whole thing packed into the original box, taped it up and placed it outside with a sign saying "UPS pickup" but they did not pick it up. The person just left the labels next to my door and left. The frustrating this is that they did not even knock the door. Now I have to carry the damn thing to a nearby UPS store to return it. Anybody else faced this issue?
And do you guys know if I can contact them for pickup again?
Thanks guys!
Hi everyone, I am sure you all hear this a lot but I recently got a chair and I want to return it
(I know I feel really bad for you guys having to pick up heavy stuff but I can't and it won't even fit in my car)
I selected UPS Pickup on Amazon so that's no problem. The thing is I want to return another package. Instead of just tossing a box with nothing on it I decided to say "Drop off at UPS Store" so now I have an RMA ID which I think is a really helpful thing.
I think my main question is, can I just print out the UPS Store QR code Amazon gave me, paste it on the box and put it on top of my UPS Pickup package (the chair)
It would mean a lot to get some insight into this, and I would appreciate it immensely.
Thanks for doing what you all do
It's been a total nightmare dealing with Amazon's CS, so hoping folks can help on here. Amazon only gave me a UPS pickup as my return option, and I live in an apartment when a pickup isn't possible. Few questions:
-Do I need to call UPS to set up a pickup? How do I let them know about the Amazon return label if Amazon doesn't give you a tracking number?
-If I don't leave the package but schedule the pickup, will the driver leave a return label?
I'm confused by some return options on 2 items. I usually use the UPS store by my house, no issues.
One item has BOTH options for UPS store and one that says just UPS. No problem, chose UPS store.
The other item only has UPS and has a link to locations in a link. This link goes to the UPS website and it lists UPS stores as drop off locations.
Is there any distinction? or does UPS encompass all UPS Stores as well?
EXAMPLE:
"UPS Dropoff — box and label needed - Please package and label your return and bring it to any UPS drop off location of your choice. UPS offers a variety of drop off locations. You can find them on the UPS website Print the return shipping label anytime from Your Orders or your email."
Afternoon Y'all,
I made the Amazon return request this past Thursday(May the 12th), and the return confirmation stated that UPS would be by on the next business day to pickup the return(Friday the 13th in this case).
A driver never came by, though. I WFH and had even left a note on my door basically saying that the item was boxed up and ready to go and to please knock. Nada(I'm getting the vibe that no one came by period).
Is this normal? I.E, Amazon overpromises next business day pickup? Or did I fall through the crack somewhere?
Believe me, I'd much rather just take this return to the store. I'm fully capable of doing so, but Amazon isn't giving me that return option. I either wait for a driver, or pay to ship it back on my own out of pocket.
