February 21, 2023What's the difference between using a regular UPS account vs a UPS Business account?
These days there's little benefit to using UPS at all, so I would say don't worry about it. All the benefits we once had are largely gone. We used to have Preferred Customer Service, a domestic call center that offered concierge services for any issues. Now we're dumped into the regular call center in Bagladesh or wherever and they are next to useless. I haven't seen our account executive for 2 years, COVID is no longer a valid excuse. Pricing is based on volume, so perhaps that's a benefit, but it's not a massive savings, it's a sliding scale. There is one remaining benefit, as small as it may be, their technology awards, which is basically spendable points you can use to buy shipping equipment and software. It's equal to less than 1% of your annual spend, so benefits may be limited. We do about $50k yr with UPS for what it's worth. More on reddit.com

I don't understand how anybody actually creates a UPS account. I've filled out the online form 20 times. I've called 3 different 800 numbers. I've spent hours on the phone. I've talked to people that open an account only to have it closed a week later. I've talked to people after it was opened and they said it would be reactivated in 20 minutes and a week later still nothing. I've supplied my business registration, my EIN, my mailing address, my business mailing address, I've added my business credit card to the account. My mailing address is a UPS box at a UPS store. They verified all my documents in person as well. Nothing WORKS!!!!!! It has been an absolute nightmare. I have no idea what else todo. Does anybody know how I can open a UPS business account?

A number of vendors that we are dealing with want us to have our own UPS shipping account so that they can just tell UPS to bill that account when they send us stuff.
I have never done anything with UPS business accounts before and am struggling to make heads or tails of what is going on. I've spent a lot of time on this and feel like I just need to talk to someone who knows what is going on.
As a specific example, a vendor asked today whether we have UPS Freight. I have no idea, I have no idea how to check, and I have no idea how to sign up for it if I don't have it.
Is UPS My Choice for Business the correct platform to be using? How do I know when a vendor has billed something to my account? Do I have a way to approve it or are they able to use that account as long as they have my account number?
I will happily pay someone for an hour or two of their time if you can help me figure this out!
