Our shipping process is to look at the ground map for FedEx and UPS (https://www.ups.com/maps?loc=en_US) and generally choose the faster service. The UPS ground maps differ, sometimes significantly, from the delivery time provided when preparing a shipment on ups.com.
Example - 66211 to 08691. Map when shipping from 66211 shows delivery in three days. Preparing the shipment on ups.com shows delivery in five days.

That’s UPS Surepost which is the cheapest slowest option - t goes halfway with UPS and the rest of the way with USPS. It takes forever.

I’ve been pretty pumped about the new USPS Ground Advantage rates, mostly because they include pickup from my front porch for the cheaper shipping option. I used to have to ship priority to get free pickup. Now UPS is offering Ground Saver which is coming in a little bit cheaper for me than the USPS counterpart, but I can’t figure out if includes porch pickup. Anybody know this? Or have any other tips on saving $$$ and making my life easier? I only ship about 10 packages a week. Mostly using marketplace pickup.

You would have to drop them off at UPS, or pay for the pickup (just like any other UPS shipment without a scheduled daily pickup). One thing to keep in mind with UPS Ground Saver is the final mile is handled by USPS, and that leg of the journey no longer has insurance. I've only seen savings of literally pennies, and it's not worth it IMO.

I ship a lot of packages for my Etsy shop. If I need porch pick up, I just leave a note in the mailbox (with the flag up) to pick up packages on porch . I’ve done this for many years. I always leave a little piece of chocolate or a small candy as a thank you. My life saver! …saves me time and gas. Always nice to be on the best terms with your mail carrier.
