r/UPS on Reddit: Can I intercept a package?
March 8, 2024 -

Long story short, I’m an idiot and shipped a package to the buyers old address when she requested to change it. I THOUGHT that I changed it but I must have gotten side tracked with what I was doing and realized it was sent to the wrong address this morning.

I signed up for ups my choice and a business account and I see that it is advertised as being able to “intercept a delivery” but I can’t see where I’m supposed to do this. After reading about, calling UPS, and tirelessly looking in the site, I’m guessing it’s impossible. Any suggestions?

Not unless they have access to your UPS Mychoice account or if they contact the shipper and the shipper has it changed.

Armed with this information, possible scenario's: They could call shipper, pretend to be you, and have them file a Delivery Intercept. Unlikely because it would cost the shipper money. They could call UPS, pretend to be the shipper, and file a Delivery Intercept charging it to the shipper. Whether this would be successful depends on several factors. If the package has not been shipped yet, they could open a MyChoice account under your name and address, and steal the activation code from your mailbox if one is sent. Then reroute the package. Federal felony. They could stake out near your address, and observe when the UPS driver usually comes. On the day of delivery, they could intercept the UPS driver, show them some fake ID (if even necessary) and get the package straight from him. Tracking shows "DELIVERED, MET CUSTOMER". They could steal it from your porch if left behind by the driver. They could steal the InfoNotice if one is generated, or snap a picture of the InfoNotice number, and file a reroute request. If you are really concerned, here is some things you can do. Have it shipped to your address with Adult Signature Required and Direct Delivery Only options. Doesn't rule out all of the scenario's above, but makes it harder. Set the value of the shipment as COD. Pay driver. After delivery, get the COD money (minus UPS fee) transferred back from shipper. This would rule out most scenario's. Have it shipped directly to a UPS Access Point and require a pincode to retrieve the package. This would rule out most scenario's.

r/UPS on Reddit: How to intercept a USP package that was delivered to my building and mistakenly returned to sender?
May 26, 2023 -

My friend ordered some concerts tickets to my apartment, but by accident put her name along with my apartment's address. The building receives a hundred UPS packages every day, so the package was delivered, later that day when the concierge couldn't find her name (which was on the package) on the list of residents, he set it on the packages to return to UPS. The package was returned yesterday, we don't know if to the sender or to a UPS warehouse. We tried to change the delivery location but it asks us for an "InfoNotice number" which apparently comes in a barcode on the sticker that UPS leaves on your door when they attempt a delivery but you're not home. We don't have this number because the delivery was completed successfully and later the package was returned by the building.

How can we intercept this package? Would it be sent to a UPS warehouse nearby or to the origin? Any recommendations? TY!!
