Why would a package be intercepted and held?
Long story short, I’m an idiot and shipped a package to the buyers old address when she requested to change it. I THOUGHT that I changed it but I must have gotten side tracked with what I was doing and realized it was sent to the wrong address this morning.
I signed up for ups my choice and a business account and I see that it is advertised as being able to “intercept a delivery” but I can’t see where I’m supposed to do this. After reading about, calling UPS, and tirelessly looking in the site, I’m guessing it’s impossible. Any suggestions?
I had a package that was incorrectly addressed and put in a service request to USPS for a package intercept to have it instead delivered to my local post office and held for pickup. The status on the request currently says "In Progress" - how long can I expect it to take after I put the request in? They called me this morning to explain that the package was incorrectly addressed (it was addressed to a PO Box when it should have been addressed saying "Box #xxxx" and as a result was just stuck at a post office and wasn't out for delivery. The customer service rep on the phone told me I could either have it returned to the sender and have them address it correctly and re-ship, or that it could be sent to a local post office of my choosing and I'd then be able to pick it up from there. So I put the request in online, which went through fine, but its status now says "In Progress". How long does it normally take from then to reach my local post office so I can go pick it up?
Hi all,
This has been resolved by the sender, but I’m really just curious about what could have happened.
Saturday I was expecting a delivery containing perishable goods. It was shipped out on Thursday, and was due to be delivered by 7 on Saturday. At 8p, the tracking status changed from “out for delivery” to “sender requested that we hold this package”, which the sender denies doing. When I called the 1-800 number, at first they said the delivery date was just delayed and it’d be delivered Monday. When I asked about the “requested hold”, then she said the seller contacted them and asked them to hold it, but she’d have my local dispatch call me on Monday. When they called this morning, they said it was out for delivery today. It was just delivered and is marked “intercept” on the box. Since the package was perishable, the contents were ruined and had to be thrown away. The sender anticipated this when I spoke with them this morning and already sent a replacement.
Why would it have been marked intercept? And then why would it be delivered anyway when marked intercept instead of returned to sender?
I'm trying to intercept a package I shipped through a ups store. Its going from VA to TN and estimated to arrive on the 24th. I've tried using the ups website to intercept the package, but its leading me nowhere. My last resort is to call the UPS 1-800-pick-ups number, and hopefully have an agent intercept it for me. any of you guys had to do something similar ? if so any info would be great help.
