I left a small box of semi-valuables behind at an airBnB in Puerto Rico. The host kindly held onto the box for me and I scheduled to have it picked up and shipped to me in Virginia. I got email confirmation that the package was successfully picked up by UPS, but I have not received an actual tracking number for the shipment. It has now been a week, I called UPS support who said they are unable to provide a tracking number associated with the pickup request number, but that the airBnB host in Puerto Rico would have been given a tracking number. The airBnB host claims they were not given a tracking number (possible they just misplaced it / forgot?)

Should I be concerned that my package is lost? UPS Support basically told me they have no way to determine where my package is. Very frustrating that the pickup request number isn’t tied to the shipment tracking number.

Is there anything else I can do to try and locate the package? Should I keep holding out to see if it shows up or should I start going down the lost package route?
