I wanted to send a prepaid shipping label with my package so that the receiver can send me back some documents. UPS charges $10 bucks for just a prepaid label (on top of shipping charge)?! Seems like highway robbery.

Let me clarify. I paid $15 bucks for outgoing label, another $15 bucks for the return label and then $10 more dollars for the return label just cause it’s prepaid

Yes. Your paying a computer use fee and the charge per paper. Think about it, ur using a businesses computer to print out a prepaid label. Store is not being paid to ship ur prepaid item. My store charges 1.99 plus .15¢ per sheet

Depends. Sometimes when my package is over the guy at the post office doesn’t care. Sometimes I have to pay money to ship it. The difference is a couple of dollars so depending on what kind of numbers you are working with it might not be worth the time contacting Mercari

okay don’t laugh at me i have never had to mail anything ever so i don’t know how this works. for context, i purchased a water bottle from yeti and I’m returning it through their warranty claim to have them send me a new one. they sent me a packing slip and a prepaid shipping label so do they cover the cost of shipping the item back or will i have to purchase the shipping fee ? and do i have to box it or will ups do that for me and if they do, do i have to purchase a box and bubble wrap as-well?

If you received a UPS label with barcodes and a tracking number, they cover the cost of shipping. Unless Yeti told you otherwise, you need to box it up, and the associated expenses are on you. You can use any used cardboard box, as long as it more or less fits the item (meaning it's not excessively larger) and it is in good condition. It's good idea to add some used bubble-wrap or padding as well, as UPS won't be liable for damage due to poor packing. The goal with the padding is that after you tape the box up, you can twist and turn the box as much as you want and don't feel anything in the box moving. If you do feel anything moving or shifting, the risk of damage is so much higher. If you don't have any of these items, just go to the UPS store they'll pack it for you. Hand them the label you got, they'll put it on the box and ship it out. You still won't pay for shipping, but you will pay the store for the materials and for the labor. Be sure to ask the UPS store to scan the barcode on the label before your eyes, so there is a record in the system of you tendering it. Another tip: put a copy of the label in the box, or some other type of reference so Yeti can 100% link the returned item to you, even if part of the label on the box has torn when it arrives.

We're all independently owned and have our own prices and policies. Some stores will print ups labels on the house, some will tape your package on the house, some will charge for one or both. I'd call ahead to be prepared.

I work at a machine shop and received this email notice on Friday. I asked my daily UPS driver and he had no knowledge of it, and he thought it might be referring to the "prepaid accounts" but according to the verbaige on this notice, the labels that are being discontinued are ones that I have purchased on my account before.. I have only ever bought prepaid labels to use on our own boxes to ship parts to customers. Is this really telling me that UPS will no longer be offering this as a service? Do they really expect every single person to bring everything in store to ship with them?? Any info on this would be appreciated. TIA

It’s referring to the hand written labels. They want everything done digitally on the thermal sticker labels. Those hand written labels are tough to read with people’s chicken scratching. Also half the time it’s missing information that UPS needs. Also most of the time people don’t write hard enough, so the info gets transferred to all 3 labels. They should’ve gotten rid of those things 10 years ago.
