Constantly being scolded by customers for the price of our printing service. We charge $3.50 for the email to print service plus 25¢ for b&w, 89¢ for color. Is it this expensive everywhere? I’m so sick of explaining that I don’t set the prices lol

You guys are very expensive. We do $1 for the email, 11 cents for B/W, 50 cents for color.

Hi, I’m looking for a physical store that can make art prints near me. The one I was going to use is now closed down. I called ups store and they told me they can make prints but I’m not sure if the quality will be up to par. Has anyone used ups store to have prints made before? I don’t have the option to scan my work right now and so I need to bring to a physical location. Thanks!

I've had prints of my drawings done at UPS, FedEx, Kinko's, and private printers. It depends greatly on the tech in the individual stores. Most leave their commercial printers at the same settings ... that is why your prints turned out so badly. Go to a private printer. Ask for a sample; choose your paper, weight, finish, etc. Private printers take one job, one copy at a time and adjust settings specifically for the job. Paintings, I have my giclees done at a photographer in studio. Definitely more expensive but I am willing to pay for that and price them accordingly.

You can get decent prints from office and shipping stores, but they'll be home decor quality rather than archival pigment inkjet blah blah blah. The better option would be to take your art to a shop just for the scanning. They'll give you the files to take home and then order from somewhere online like Catprint. Even with a good shop employee, there's generally a large amount of editing that needs to be done to get a good print result, not only in the actual file (color, contrast, dust removal) but in calibrating to a particular printer. If you absolutely need to go in person, figuring out exactly what to ask for will help a lot. Most employees aren't used to printing art or really care what a "good print" is. But if you ask for 12x16" on glossy 100lb cover cardstock, they can follow directions. You just need to know what the options are to ask for. Fedex/Kinkos and Staples are two other options. Kinkos in particular has saved my butt when I sold out of prints at a convention. The exact order example I used above is for them.

I usually print my documents at the FedEx store at self service kiosk using my USB flash drive. It costs about approx $1.50 for 10 black and white copies. Since my local FedEx was closed, I went to UPS store today expecting the same, however, they asked me to pay $2 extra for the computer use. Also it was 25 cents for one page. What usually cost me $1.50 at FedEx, cost me $5 at UPS. How do I avoid this computer use? Is there an application where I can send the documents to print and collect from the store immediately? FedEx has an app 'FedEx Office' to do this.
