I ordered something online and I was out of town for a while and got something on my door saying this was our final attempt, package will be returned to sender. It needed a signature and I wasn’t there unfortunately. Do I get a refund when the item was sent back? Thanks.
Guys, really need your help to understand how to untangle a mess we've found ourselves in with an urgent and very important UPS package (my girlfriend's work laptop).
My girlfriend left from the US to the UK for work last Sunday, and forgot her work laptop. The next day, on Monday her mom sent the laptop to her apartment in the UK, using the most expensive and urgent option, for whopping crazy $385 (almost FOUR HUNDRED!!!), with estimated delivery time being 9AM of Wednesday, the UK time.
The package didn't arrive even on Thursday morning. The tracking number showed statuses like "Warehouse Scan" and "Your package was released by the clearing agency" three times with several hours delays each.We called the origin UPS office told us to wait as "they lost the invoice".When we called the global UPS phone support, they told us that the origin UPS office:
-
forgot to put an invoice in the package
-
didn't specify that it was a personal item (my girlfriend's mom stated that she's sending her daughter's forgotten laptop to her, we were on the phone with her at that moment)
Today morning (a whole week later, remember, we bought the "urgent" service?) the tracking status shows the UK locations, but says that we're due to pay the "Import C.O.D. chatges" (for our OWN laptop!!!)---
By now, my girlfriend has already left the shipment destination (she's traveling for work, remember). She's probably gonna be sooner back to the US than the laptop arrive to the UK.
How can we:
-
Request a return of the laptop to the sender?
-
Receive a refund for the service that was never delivered, a mistake of the UPS staff?
If I paid $100 to ship an item and then submitted an RTS to have it returned to me (as in not delivered), will the original $100 be refunded back to me?
[EDIT] To clarify, I am the shipper. I backed out of shipping it to someone.
I ordered a package that was supposed to be 4 day delivery. Turns out its gonna be 8 and I cant wait that long. Seller said to contact UPS and tell them to return to sender. What do I need to accomplish this? Just a tracking number? Or am I gonna have to wait till I receive the package to send it back?
