Operations are usually really bad about enforcing the Clean In, Clean Out policy that UPS has corporate wide. According to this policy (it has been a while since I've seen it or explained it so I might be outdated) employees are basically allowed to bring a ring, a watch, a phone (for specific job classifications; drivers or combo employees typically), glasses, and a meal or snack. This is to prevent any potential conflicts about whether something is yours or stolen property. However over the years many facilities have stopped enforcing this or caring about it nearly as much.

On top of that you are required to comply with guard shack personnel at all times. UPS' security department is who would get involved if you refused to comply with the guard shack and they typically don't care if the policy has been enforced or not.

Finally unless your union is extremely weak, you should be protected from disciplinary action surrounding this since it seems to be a local practice to allow you to have them. However this does not negate the policy and any UPS management or security person who asks you to not wear them or bring them on property you should listen to. They may not be able to discipline you for having them directly, but they can for failure to work as instructed and get security involved in it.
