I ordered an ipad and its coming from china. but ups site said it takes 2-3 days for worldwide express saver. but my tracking says that its due to deliver on the 9th. or am i wrong about how long WW Express takes?

Assuming that is clears customs pretty easily it won’t take very long. Though I’ve heard rumors that packages from China and Italy are being held for a time period (due to the virus) before going out for delivery

1-3 days is typical for Express intl. However, depending on where it's going and how up to date the receiving country's customs operation is, it can take much longer. We can do everything correct and if customs decided to get uppity, the package could be delayed. Germany and Japan are notorious in my experience for holding shit forever. Also, a lot of third world countries tend to cause delays in delivery simply because their technology is so far behind.

Can someone help me understand how a package ships from Shanghai on a Tuesday, and is scheduled to deliver that immediate Friday? UPS “Worldwide Express Saver”
I am only making assumptions here, but I believe the quick deliveries arrive via airplanes, while things from wish and places like this are delayed because the seller wants to ship the goods in bulks, sending as many things as possible in a single shipment to reduce costs. Edit: the extra 8 bucks is possibly how much it costs apple to get that one extra device on board next to all their supplies. More on reddit.com

I don’t have any experience ordering a new product from Apple, but with some stimulus I was able to order my GF a new iPhone SE. Apple’s delivery window says the phone would be here between June 2nd and June 4th, and I paid the extra $8 for faster shipping.
What shocked me is it shipped from China, and I am in New England USA, and even more shocking is a delivery date of Friday May 29th, which is tomorrow.
Phone left Shanghai on May 28th at 7:00 pm Shanghai-time. The same date at 11:00 pm it left Incheon, Korea. That’s the latest info I have.
I find this HIGHLY fascinating. The only things I’ve ever ordered directly from China have been through Wish/Geek, and those of course take many weeks to arrive. I’m so darn curious about how this works and how much it cost Apple.
I may be a bit naive here because I must admit I don’t even understand the time change well enough 🤦♂️
Any info to help me process this and learn something new? :)

2-3 day international delivery is common for UPS, Fedex, DHL. It is not cheap, but its a great service for expensive things like iPads. Rates are crazy high right now for air freight in general, but in normal times I would expect that package to cost Apple $30-ish due to huge volumes. Wish, etc. will ship using sea freight or slow air freight, and may also be receiving subsidized postage from the government of China.
