This option is well-hidden in Windows 11, so you will have to go into the registry.

  • Find your Keyboard identifier in the list and note it down
  • Run regedit
  • Position to the registry key HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload
  • You will see your two keyboard layout listed, where your layout is in the item named 2
  • Right-click the item named 1, select "Rename" and change it to 3
  • Likewise rename 2 to 1
  • Now rename 3 to 2 to swap the order
  • Reboot for your change to take effect.

Here’s my laptop keyboard and installed layouts. Unfortunately none of those match the keyboard. For instance: the « / » is at the top left under Escape key when selecting the French Canada layout. This drives me nuts. Fortunately the onscreen keyboard saves the day as last resort.

Any idea which layout is right for my hardware ?

Forgive me if i'm not using the proper terminology, I'm looking for a way to add zero keys and an alt+gr to my preference. I'm not trying to make new shortcuts, i'm trying to add marked letters used in different languages

The keyboard layout creator does not work with Windowss 11, even when i downloaded the older modules. I have the instruction manual, but the program's only going to the install wizard and no further

Does anyone know if there's another program to add keyboard inputs like "US-international"? I will also be open to people making one for me if you have the ability. It wasn't very difficult when i did it on an older computer, but i can pay a few bucks if it helps. Still, this is if Windows 11 can accept a new keyboard input file, which i'm not 100% sure it can
