You might try hooking it up through a USB-C On-the-Go (OtG) adapter to see if that allows the device to connect. Android “should” connect with a direct USB-C plug-in if the device (in your case the receiver) is USB audio Class Compliant. Things don’t always work, though. It would be helpful for diagnosing the problem if you could test the receiver with another host, like another android device, computer, or iOS device, to confirm the receiver is functional. r/fieldrecording on Reddit: Issues connecting USB-C mic to Android phone?
May 24, 2024 -

I'd like to think that I, as a 28 year old, am pretty solid with technology. Outside of VR, there's not a whole lot that's above my mental paygrade. But so help my ass, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get my 2021 Moto G Power to recognize my North Wireless Mic.

It really seemed as easy as plug the receiver into the USB-C port, pair the mic up to it, and you're good to go. For some reason, my phone just won't recognize it as a microphone. Like I plug the receiver in, and nothing changes. Is there a setting I'm missing, does the big standard Android camera app not recognize external mics? I'm really at a loss.

I recently upgraded my Android phone and lost my headphone jack in the process. I used to plug a headset into my headphone jack for long phone calls, but unfortunately it doesn't work with my headphone to USB C dongle.

I'm trying to buy a new headset, but I'm having a hard time finding any USB C ones. Does anyone have experience with this or headset recommendations?

I have AKG Lyra. It says it's supposed to work with Android, but I can't get it to work.

I plugged Lyra to my Android phone using usb-c cable. I can hear the direct monitor and output from phone, so it's getting power from phone.

However, I can't use it as input. Is there a setting I need to change from phone?

r/androidapps on Reddit: Video Recording App with Support for External (USB-C connected) Microphone
March 20, 2023 -

I recently updated a smartphone that I primarily use for recording videos. This brought this phone from Android 11 to Android 13 (I avoided updating the phone to prevent any issues with my recording setup).

With that update, the video recording app I was using no longer worked (Cinema FV-5). Trying to open it results in the app crashing and getting an error message saying the video driver can't be loaded (or something).

So when looking for an alternative, I came across Open Camera. The features offered in this app seem great so far, but the quality of the video recording seems worse than what I'm used to. A big example of this is the wood grain on my desk showing up in the viewfinder before I press the record button, but once I begin recording, all of that detail is lost.

The resulting footage just seems washed out (even with exposure set low) and I'm hoping there is another app out there that I can use to replace it.

So I was wondering if there is another video recording application out there that also supports audio input from an external microphone (USB-C microphone).

r/GooglePixel on Reddit: Can I use the USB-C to 3.5mm adapter for a microphone? More importantly, should I?
January 22, 2019 -

I bought a refurbished Pixel 2 XL (sans adapter) recently to shoot some video + interviews on. I've quicky realised onboard sound won't cut it.

Is the official USB-C to 3.5mm any good for this? (I have wired / rode / wireless 3.5mm microphones)

Unrelated question - I notice call recording is banned on Android P. If I root the phone, is it easy to configure it to allow call recording apps to function? (Previously I used ACR to record phone interviews).

r/audio on Reddit: USB-C lav mic detected as headphones with mic on android phone
August 19, 2024 -

Details

Phone: Xiaomi 11t pro / Realme gt2 pro

UI Version: Miui14 / RealmeUI 4.0

Android version: 13 / 13

Lav mic: Saramonic U3A

Headphones: Sony wh-1000xm4 / Bose NC 700

I've tried tings on both sets of phones and headphones

Situation

Intending to use the lav microphone to use instead of the bluetooth headphones' integrated microphone.

Both devices are connected on a phone at the same time, USB-C for the lav mic, bluetooth for the headphones.

When trying calls (Messenger, Whatsapp, regular cellphone calls) and using the "Headphones option", the person on the other end can hear the person talking through the lav mic, but the person talking on the lav mic cannot hear anything.

When using the "Bluetooth option" the lav microphone is completely out of the equation, and the bluetooth headphones are used as normal, for mic and audio.

Expected outcome

Using the lav microphone to talk and the bluetooth headphones to hear, all at the same time during a call.

Problem

I suspect the lav microphone is detected as a headphone+mic combo, since that's the logo that shows up in the notification bar and in calls. Of course it doesn't have speakers so there is no reason to get audio output through a microphone. I see no way to divert audio output to the bluetooth and still have a functioning lav mic at the same time.

Request

A way to use both the lav mic and bluetooth headphones, using software and/or hardware.

I'm aware I can instead use USB-C to 3.5mm jack and then split to another 3.5mm lav mic and the 3.5mm in the headphones, but I would like to use USB-C for the compatibility, minimize cables, and use the sound cancellation which is bluetooth only for the Sony.

Thank you!

Hi, u/Perfectus0 ! This is a reminder about Rule #1 (If you have already added great details, awesome, ignore this comment. This message gets attached to every post as a reminder): DETAILS MATTER: Use detail in your post. If you are posting for help with specific hardware, please post the brand/model. If you need help troubleshooting, post what you have done, post the hardware/software you are using, post the steps to recreate the problem. I've been wanting a setup like this for years but the only solution I've found so far is to use a wired headset. To my knowledge, the Android audio subsystem is not capable of selecting separate audio devices, one for mic and a different one for playback. There is an option within Android to use (or not use) a bluetooth audio device for media playback or for phone calls, but that doesn't seem to provide a solution. I tried using this microphone app but it kept crashing or just switching both the input and output to the same device. Even the app description says there are limitations within Android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pcmehanik.smartmicrophone Perhaps there's a USB-C mixer out there that would solve this problem. Hoping we'll find a solution eventually.

I am looking for a way to sing karaoke using a charge 5 speaker. This speaker doesn't have a aux input jack so the only solution that I can come up with is getting a USB-C mic for android and play music from Spotify or YouTube at the same time with it. Are there any settings/apps that will make this possible?
