The USB-a connector is usually only rated for at most about 10-20 watts, and I would doubt that even newer cars with native USB-c ports would supply much more than that. Cigarette lighter ports are usually rated for much more, allowing inverters to be used.

Idk if this is stupid, and I literally can't find any other posts with an answer to this, but does anyone know if it would be possible to convert a standard usb cable to a 3 prong cable. It's currently powering 5v leds and it needs a power brick but I'm too lazy to find one that isn't usbc anymore so I'd rather dismember a cable or two.

Gonna have to be more specific than 3 prong. Could mean mains voltage cable which is a definite no no. Actually not even sure what else you could mean so probably no.
