Hi, I am trying to salvage an SMX3000HV by attempting to flash it using a serial cable. The serial cable I have is an APC AP9827 and when connected to a Windows 10 machine, it doesn't detect as a COM port in 'Device Manager' and as such the APC Firmware utility is unable to find my UPS. Ok, I can answer my own question... Solution was to not try to find Ugreen drivers but PL2303GT drivers. I managed to find a download from here . I never had any success with drivers from the Prolific Taiwanese website that all other solutions point to. When you open the zip file, I pointed device manager (running as admin) to the "PL2303G_DCHU+DFx_Win11_21H2_24H2_v5.2.7.2_20240613_ML_Driver" folder More on reddit.com

Look in Device Mangler in the device properties and get the hardware ID. Then Google that, and it should point you at the adapter or chipset mfgr's website, to download the driver. For future though, just buy one based on an FTDI chip and it'll plug and play in Windows. Other common chips will too, but FTDI seems to be the most reliable in operation. More on reddit.com

Just get any adapter with a FTDI FT232RL Chip. Have been using these for years with Win 7/8/10, Linux/BSD and OSX on one side and Cisco, HP, Raritan, whatever devices on the other side. Never had any problems, it just works. No 3rd party driver needed as well.

Has anyone managed to get a Ugreen USB to DB9 RS232 working on Windows 11? I've not had any luck by downloading PL203 drivers and there is no driver to rollback as it is a fresh install of Win 11, not an upgrade from Win 10 (suggestions found from research on the internet).
Alternatively, has anyone got recommendations for a RS232 DB9 adapter that works on Windows 11?
For the benefit of the moderator Nazis in r/networking that decided to remove my thread, using a serial cable to manage enterprise network gear is rather an important topic in my opinion, but fuck you guys.

You may have to disable windows driver signing protection to install. I have that problem with Android ADB drivers
