I have done this in the past and i would take the used cafe grinder. However... Highly likely you will need new burrs, but for grinders like the SJ they are inexpensive and easy to replace. They are generally noisy (loud), the noise in a cafe usually makes it not an issue. Your call They are usually hooper-fed and have a high retention - again it is your call if you mind this or not. The big risk is the motor burnt out. Check before buying. Finally, they can just be big - too big for small kitchens. But they do make significantly better grinders than the budget Brartza and Brevilles. More on reddit.com
