I am pretty adamant that buying brand new is basically not worth it, unless you're made of money and buying something like a Fazioli. The markups are high and depreciation is high. I advise to try to get the used piano at the lower end of that price range. Never buy something you haven't had at least 30 minutes to try. You will find a piano you love. The Kawai ES100 came out around 2013, so it's still reasonably new. The ES110, which is a generation newer, costs about $700. I would personally expect to pay about $500 for a used ES110 (if you could find one.) For an ES100, I'd expect to see an additional discount -- I'd start giving it serious thought at the $400 or less price point. If you can't talk them into lowering the price a bit, I'd probably go for a new instrument, personally. As far as deciding between the FP10 and FP30, look at the difference in features between the two. They've got the same action and sound engine, since the FP-10 is just a stripped down FP-30, but how much will you use the extra features you'd get with the FP-30? If you'd use them regularly, it's probably worth the extra money. More on reddit.com
