April 14, 2022 - I'm guessing that's not something to be excited for unless I use it on a ps5... which I have no plans to do. ... There are some niche features to be had if you emulate fairly specific titles. The DualSense is better than an XBox controller if you want to emulate BOTW or other Nintendo games that have motion controls.

I recently was given a GameStop giftcard for my birthday, and I’m planning on using it to buy a PS5 controller (I’ve been wanting the purple one since it was first released, but could never justify the price since I have controllers that work perfectly). I’d be looking to order online, since it’s less stressful (for me) and guarantees that they’d at least have what I’m looking for, but depending on what people say I’ll find a store and go there.
I could make do with buying a new one, but I would prefer to save the money where I can and opt for pre-owned if it’ll be in good condition. I don’t care about having all the wires or manuals, I don’t need them, but mainly I want to know if the controller will work as well as if I bought a new one, and if it’ll look like it’s in good condition. If there’s a really good chance that it’ll be horribly scratched or scuffed or can’t be cleaned up well, that’d be enough of a deal breaker for me to buy new.

Idk about other stores, but when selling used I always plug the controller in and let the customer test it themselves on our testers. You should be able to always ask to see the controllers beforehand as well. I let everyone pick theirs directly and test them and at my store we clean them very well and do not sell super damaged ones. However this is not a new controller. No matter what, there’s always gonna be SOME wear and tear. Just ask to see each one!

New>pre-owned>refurbished. Best to go to your local store to check condition quality, and as others have also said, have it tested in front of you prior to purchasing.
