Used Riding Lawn Mowers <$1,000
Looking at older mowers/yard tractors under $800ish
Used riding mowers
What riding lawn mower is good for 600-800 budget?
Wife and I just bought a house with 1.6 acres and we are in need of a riding mower.
I am not mechanically inclined nor have I bought a lawn mower. We are looking for a tractor style for versatility!
What are y’all’s recommendations or what things to look for/look to avoid?
I'm looking for a mower for my .75 acre lot. I'm very mechanically inclined so I don't mind doing repairs on an older machine that is built more like a tractor than the MTD junk with the unrepairable hydro transmissions. There are a lot of old John Deere/Toro/Cub Cadet machines around me, but I don't know what's good.
If you had a budget of $800ish (up to a grand for a nice machine) and want something that is sturdy and repairable, what would you be looking for model-wise? Should I look for older yard tractors or maybe something commercial?
We moved to a property that had a fairly massive yard and it takes my electric 19” mower right battery charges to get it done. That’s simply not reasonable.
So I looked at some new mowers like the Craftsman riding mower that’s on sale for about $1800. It’s nice but I see used riding mowers on FB marketplace for around $500 here. I’m not scared of changing a belt but I don’t want to do engine work on a single cylinder lawn tractor.
So two things really: what should I look out for if I go to check any of them out? Would an acre still be feasible if I got like a 22” self propelled gas mower? I like mowing, but I don’t like it 6 hours long.
I want kawasaki engine! Just a regular riding lawn mower. Thank you for any advice
