Have had this happen at our mailbox bank a few times each year. For a while I had the personal cell phone for our local postmaster and would just text them to let them know. That usually resulted in a very rapid response and they were genuinely appreciative. They have since moved on and I now have the email address for the provisional/temporary postmaster who has since stopped responding and/or acting when I've sent them photos of the open mailbox bank. The first time it happened though I also needed to go to the DCU (detached carrier unit) for another reason and showed the photo to the manager at the time. The look of horror on their face was priceless. So while I'm confident the carriers are often over worked and under paid, management does at least take this very seriously. If you want to get their attention I would first figure out whether you're on a city route (mail sorted at 4th st) or a rural route (mail sorted at the DCU). If your mail comes from 4th st, then stop by and walk through the blue door (where you get mailbox keys & passport photos) and show them the photo. If your mail comes from the DCU, then head down to that location off of Wilson. You can determine your route by using the Zip+4 search function on the USPS site. After searching by address, the results will have a "V" (upside down caret) over to the right. Click on that to expose the details and over on the left you'll see carrier route. A route preceded with the letter "C" is a city route and a route preceded with a "R" is a rural route. And from my research all the city routes originate from 4th street and the rural routes from the DCU. And don't assume if you live within the city limits of Bend that you are on a city route. Try the post office for the zip code it was sent to. If the zip wasn’t included, I’d try 97701 first. 97701 is at 2300 NE 4th street; take the Butler Market exit (if southbound on 97 or eastbound on 20), go left off the exit, then right onto 4th. If northbound on 97, take the Revere exit, turn right off the exit, then go through a stoplight to get to a 4-way stop. Take a left on 4th.
