Change of address in person
Online Change of Address is BS!!!!!
How to change your address with the Postal Service
Let the post office know you are going to change your address and want your mail forwarded to your new location. You can go to:
- USPS.com/move to change your address online.
- You do not need to pay a separate company to change your address. Scammers may charge $40 or more to do what you can do for $1.10 using the "Who is moving?" section of the official USPS.com website.
- Your local post office - Ask for the Mover’s Guide packet.
How to change your address with other government services
Change your address with other federal and state services:

- Social Security
- Veterans benefits

So I moved about a year ago into my apartment complex and recently renewed my lease. I haven’t been receiving any mail for over a week now so when I went into the post office they told me in order to continue receiving all my mail to my current address I have to extend mail forwarding for a fee for either 6months, 12 months or 18months.. But everyone around me including my parents say this isn’t true and they never had to do this every year to continue receiving mail to their address. So what is this mean? Do I have to extend my mail forwarding to continue receiving my mail? Or will I stop receiving mail entirely? Or does it only mean any mail with my old address won’t be delivered until I change my address with the senders? I’m so confused and need help before I pay for something I can’t afford rn
am I crazy to believe that if I changed my address & paid the fee for it to be changed, obviously I want my mail to be delivered to the freaking address I put in the change of address.
TL; DR
*Well basically…
Like what people mentioned here about the yellow stickers they put on mail that has the wrong original addy on it and says notify sender of COA.
I freak out about everything & was thinking you must always keep paying for the forwarding to keep receiving any of your own mail.
