I was under the impression that USPS ground changed to include $100 of insurance with the label that ebay offers to sellers. I have an item that was shipped in late November, that never arrived. The lost mail request through the usps site hasn’t updates since December 5, and the usps site says that the tracking number does not qualify for a claim.
Am I doing something wrong? Ebay was going to obviously force me to refund them (and I did) because they never received it.
I have sent 1600 items and this is only the 2nd time this has happened. The first time was so long ago I don’t remember what happened. Advice welcome!
Ground Advantage Insurance claim
usps ground advantage.
Etsy has been covering Priority Mail under seller protection since the beginning, and it comes with insurance. This will be no different.
I know the policy guidelines say that they may not cover stuff under Seller Protection that otherwise comes with insurance, but that is not ever been how they have ruled. They may not consider included USPS insurance in that and only include third party. But then again I'm pretty sure they've been covering claims even if it was third party insured.
It's an automated process for them to rule on a "not received" case and whether that class of mail came with insurance isn't something that the automated process looks at.
More on reddit.comPlease for the love of god, buy insurance if you are shipping $20+ worth of cards with USPS. I’m sick of USPS losing and the seller complaining. They don’t lose packages as frequently when the are insured for their value
USPS insurance is a SCAM!
This is my first time ever filing a claim. USPS has lost the package, it hasn't moved in over weeks.
When filling out the form online I was very surprised by how much info they needed.
They want to know what the item is and require I upload a receipt of purchase.
Why is this? If the $100 of insurance is included in the shipping price, shouldn't I be entitled to the $100 back if they lose the item?
The item was scanned into a distribution center and never moved again. I already filed a missing mail request and was called and basically told 'we haven't received the item at our post office' and the case was closed.
The package also has a return address inside so if the label was damaged there's still info inside of where it's from and where it was going
The item in question is $188 so I'm at a loss either way, I'm just wondering if it was something cheaper or something without a clear value (legal documents or something sentimental) would the claim be denied?
When I heard the new Ground Advantage shipping was going to include insurance I was a little hopefully that I'd finally get a little something back when USPS loses a package I've sent. Currently I lose around $2-3k a year in lost and stolen mail that I send out.
I dont have a receipt for the item as it's something I purchased for cash local and then sold via Instagram. I did upload the receipt from my system of the sale showing the value my customer paid. Not sure if this is going to be sufficient for the claim.
Anyway I filed 2 days ago the claim is still pending.
For those sellers in the states, make sure you familiarize yourself with USPS ground advantage. USPS ground advantage offers $100 in insurance for both ways. So for those customers who like to proclaim they didn't receive their order it won't be so easy to get a refund. I guarantee you Etsy won't be covering these anymore unless its for stamped letters.

Does anyone know when Etsy is going to update shipping options to include Ground Advantage? Went to update shipping profiles this morning and it wasn't there.
