November 29, 2023Can I use ground advantage to mail a letter?
The answer is 100% NO. The full DMM has not been updated for Ground Advantage, but the change log shows that it has the exact same restrictions as First Class Package regarding this. If it has the characteristics of a letter or a large envelope, it cannot be shipped at the package rate to get tracking. Furthermore, if shipping at the commercial rate, it cannot contain correspondence. If you add cardboard or something to make it too thick to be a letter, you may ship it Ground Advantage at retail price. Or just send it Certified or Priority Mail if you want tracking. I think it’s great. I have mostly switched to Parcel instead of Priority over the last few months and have been unable to tell any difference in delivery speed. Ground Advantage fills in two gaps parcel was missing: faster shipping to HI/AK and territories and free return service. We’ll see how it performs during xmas, but for normal times I think it’s a better choice than Priority for most online sellers. PFRE’s/small FRBs being the exception. More on reddit.com

I saw someone using these on YouTube. I could really use some free USPS GA boxes, so I went to usps website. Unfortunately, they aren’t listed there.
Are these real? Are they still available? If so, how does one get them?

This may be an unpopular opinion but I wish the post office didn’t offer “free” boxes. Nothing is free. If the boxes are free the rates are higher because of it. Perhaps Poshmark is subsidizing some of the cost for now but that is unsustainable, as was their “free” priority mail shipping. I buy some small boxes and poly bags from EBay but the vast majority of my items ship in used boxes with used packing material. This is better for the environment and FREE. Save your own. Have your friends and family and neighbors save them for you. I’ve trained mine to leave small boxes intact. Saves me tape and time. Talk to a local business about a regular pickup. Scrounge from a local recycling center. I promise if you do these things you’ll quickly have so many boxes of so many sizes and so much packing material you’ll fill up whatever space you have to store it all in.
