USPS vs UPS for International Shipping
The courier service will be more reliable than the national postal service but a fair bit more expensive. Which courier is best depends on destination. So for many international destinations DHL is better but within the US: UPS or FedEx. More on reddit.com

iPhone shipping
Is it brand new still sealed in a factory box? If so, yes. Any other condition, no, it may not be shipped with USPS. No used consumer electronics containing rechargeable lithium batteries can be shipped internationally via postal systems, only through cargo transport (UPS/DHL/FedEx) More on reddit.com

Confused about international shipping rules as described by worker...
You'd have to send it via registered mail for international tracking for an international letter; that's an extra $19 some dollars. Cheaper than using a flat rate priority mail envelope; first class package service might be the cheapest, but please note, tracking internationally is as spotty as can be. Non-existent in Italy, for example, and maybe 10% of the packages I sent to Spain actually track once it leaves the country. Customs form would be required for package service. More on reddit.com
