Has anyone had success with a "Missing Mail Search" on USPS?
Package lost, can't submit missing mail search. What next?
Frustrated by missing mail, one American took the Postal Service to court
how successful is a missing mail search request?
This whole thing has been a mess. I ordered a small piece of jewelry from China back in the end of March. Day after I ordered it I noticed I ordered with the wrong zip and seller couldn't change it. When it cleared customs and switched to usps I tracked and tried to reach out to every and any usps location it stopped at, always too late. Eventually it was returned to sender, but than thankfully switched to missing mail, I assume cause no one would take it back over seas for some reason. So off to the recovery center. And I also just have to say, I've spent hours and hours trying to intercept and trying to work with my local post office... lots of other stuff I found out too late because they didn't tell me I could to the leg work. I just can't believe a human can't look at a package and see that the state and address are correct but the zip is off by one number. The first number! So it went to Kansas city mo, instead of Oconto falls WI! 65154 instead of 54154...
Anyways what are my chances it even gets found?

I had a fairly valuable priority mail flate rate bubble envelope shipped to me. The package was initially scanned in at a distribution center in NY. There were no updates for a week and I submitted a help request form.
USPS actually called me (which surprised me) and stated there has not been a physical scan for a while. She said I should file a "missing mail claim" and they she flagged the shipment. She continued that sometimes just flagging the package will have it moving again. I submitted the missing mail form last week, but there have not been any updates on it.
I have a small hobby business and ship USPS A LOT. I've had packages take a long time to be delivered, but I've never ran into a package having a single scan then never having an additional scan for multiple weeks. At this point, I'm wondering if I should keep patient or submit an insurance claim? There is insurance on the package, but the contents are sentimental as well as valuable and I'd rather have the package.
Has anyone submitted a Missing Mail Search with USPS and have it work? Additionally, if anyone has any input on filing an insurance claim, I'd be interested in that as well. Thanks!
I've been trying to submit a missing mail search for this package for 2 days now. Every time I hit submit, I get an error message that says something like "Error-1, failed to submit new form". It won't even let me save as draft-- I get the same error message and nothing happens. I've tried on my phone as well as my PC.
What do I do now? This was an item I purchased from a seller here on reddit, so not from some big company that can send a replacement. Ideally if the package cannot be found, I just want to utilize the $100 insurance (which thankfully covers the value of the item). Can I proceed with an insurance claim if I'm not able to successfully submit the missing mail search?
