They’re as useless as usps is as a whole. They’ll tell you after the 6 months passes that basically it’s your fault something was lost. Zero accountability. They never look into anything it’s just an automated system. Answer from UncannyAnomaly on reddit.com

r/usps_complaints on Reddit: My USPS service request was marked resolved but the package hasn't been found or scanned
October 18, 2020 -

On Tuesday, I mailed a bunch of film, at the post office in Atlanta by my Airbnb, to my favorite lab in California. It didn't get scanned or sent out that day but I know the post office is slammed.

After three days without a scan I get worried so I put in a help request which got routed to a post office in California, not to the one in Atlanta. Today I got a call from the service rep saying that my package hasn't been scanned -no kidding?/s-and that they don't know where it is. She then proceeded to put all the blame on the lab and not on the USPS. She told me she would update my case.

An hour later I get an email that says my case has been resolved and closed. Despite the fact, they haven't found or delivered it. Furthermore, she told me in the email that it is possible the package might have been damaged and the contents damaged as well. To make things worse, despite being a first-class package, she said that it doesn't have insurance and it's not their problem. She then proceeded to blame the lab again for not having valid tracking numbers.

I've mailed and received numerous rolls of film to this lab and never before had one failed to scan. The fact they deny that my package has insurance, marked the case resolved, and blamed a small business for their screw up really pisses me off. I know they're struggling but take some accountability for your fuck ups USPS!

r/usps_complaints on Reddit: Has anyone had success with a "Missing Mail Search" on USPS?
December 28, 2022 -

I had a fairly valuable priority mail flate rate bubble envelope shipped to me. The package was initially scanned in at a distribution center in NY. There were no updates for a week and I submitted a help request form.

USPS actually called me (which surprised me) and stated there has not been a physical scan for a while. She said I should file a "missing mail claim" and they she flagged the shipment. She continued that sometimes just flagging the package will have it moving again. I submitted the missing mail form last week, but there have not been any updates on it.

I have a small hobby business and ship USPS A LOT. I've had packages take a long time to be delivered, but I've never ran into a package having a single scan then never having an additional scan for multiple weeks. At this point, I'm wondering if I should keep patient or submit an insurance claim? There is insurance on the package, but the contents are sentimental as well as valuable and I'd rather have the package.

Has anyone submitted a Missing Mail Search with USPS and have it work? Additionally, if anyone has any input on filing an insurance claim, I'd be interested in that as well. Thanks!

Putting this out here to help anyone who has problems with this particular error.

The form to submit an enquiry kept failing with this error message. I eventually through trial and error found that the problem is if you click the radio button saying you know the contents of your package, but then don't click any of the checkbox options for package contents because none apply, the form fails.

Checking Unknown in the long list of options for the package contents allowed the form to be submitted.

After multiple days of continuously stating "moving through network" after arriving to the Fairburn, GA facility, I was convinced to submit a missing mail search based off of others advice in this subreddit. Low and behold I wake up this morning with the package making progress. Second picture is the Fairburn facility at the bottom, and the Palmetto facility at the top. Crazy that it took 4 days to travel 2.4 miles!

Don't rely on USPS to sort things out on their own, valuable lesson learned. It's unfortunate that I'm having to take time out of my day to help them do their job. This has given me unnecessary stress and anxiety to deal with, and has even gotten to the point of losing sleep over worry.

Due to this, and the plethora of other issues that are currently affecting the USPS, I have decided to temporarily close my online store that I own. I can not possibly rely on a company that is this complacent to have my customer's best interests in mind.

Sorry for all that are experiencing issues, and I truly hope your packages arrive soon. DO BETTER USPS!

I had a package that went more than two weeks with no scans or updates of any kind. It was stuck on accepted.

I filled out a Help Request form- they got back to me in 3 business days and told me they couldn’t find any additional info on my package. They suggested I contact the sender.

Instead I did a Missing Mail Search. 24 hours later- my package has been found and its out for delivery!

I strongly suggest people try filling out the Missing Mail Search form- add as much info as you can like the senders address. Hope it helps for some other people here!

Update: Its here! The label on the package was damaged. No idea if the missing mail search fixed things or not but it sure didn’t hurt!

r/USPS on Reddit: Service Request Question
August 26, 2020 -

I recently submitted a service request and later found out that some of the information I provided is incorrect. USPS has already sent me an email notifying me that they are investigating the information that I have provided.

If I were to respond to this email, would I be able to provide corrections to the information I previously provided, or is it best if I submit another service request for the same package, just with updated information?

I’d like to make this process as easy as possible for my local post office and I’m worried that submitting another service request for the same item will just waste their time and cause confusion.

Thanks to anyone that can help me out with this!

February 14, 2023 -

The package was in the destination state (VA) since August 2nd (which was also the original estimated delivery date). It sat in Richmond for 2 days, was never delivered, and has now been scanned in a different state. This is supposed to be "Priority Mail" service. What is going on? I also tried filling out a Service Request form, but after I fill out all information and hit Submit I get an error saying "There was a problem submitting your Request. Please try again later." Is anyone else having this issue?

r/USPS on Reddit: Submitting Help Request form online no longer possible?
October 13, 2021 -

Has the Help Request form (not Missing Mail Search) online been discontinued? I'm a small, online seller, and when a customer isn't able to locate their package after a few days, I usually file a Help Request form on the USPS website and the following day or so, the local branch will contact me letting me know that they've received the request. The vast majority of times, I receive an e-mail back from the branch letting me know they've located it and they've redelivered the package.

It seems now that that's no longer an option. When I enter the tracking number, and it asks if I have an issue with this package, and then click "Start", I now get this message, with only a Previous or Close option, and it's directing me to file a claim or initiate a Missing Mail Search. It's also too early to file a MMS. I just tested it with another tracking number and got the same result, so this doesn't seem to be just this one.

This is a building, and sometimes it's placed in the incorrect mailbox, or delivered to the wrong unit or apartment. The process has worked wonderfully in the past, and I'm kind of bummed that it seems to no longer be an option. I will call tomorrow and see if I can find out anything, but hoping someone here may have some insight. Thanks!

r/USPS on Reddit: How do I check the status of a case or service request
September 15, 2019 -

I have not been receiving my mail at my current address for the better part of 7 to 8 months. I have lived here for two years. I now have three different case numbers, and to service request numbers about this issue from USPS. I have gotten two survey request, but no follow up on as to what happened with the cases. Meanwhile I’m still not getting my mail and my local office is full of excuses. How do I at least find out what the findings of the cases were or the status of the service requests? I’ve tried calling the one 800 number, but the hold times are in excess of an hour.
