Made this to fit an unused spot in our small/cramped laundry room. 12"x16"x74" with 1/2" baltic birch glued and dadoed, face trimmed with cedar. It was a chore to get everything square but it turned out great. Only regret is the wood filler on the cedar for the brad nail holes.

It doesn’t seem like you are getting use out of all of the rods for clothing, which take up a ton of space in here. I would first figure out where you need to keep a clothing rod and how wide it would need to be. It seems like the right side of the closet is laundry sorting, so I would keep it on that side and remove the rods at the back and left side entirely. I would then clear the line of sight into the closet- m all of the stuff sitting on the floor on the left to the right wall, which looks more inset. This should make the room feel bigger/easier to navigate. If you need storage on that wall, I would add some hooks/pegs to hang things, but would definitely keep that space intentionally more open. There is a ton of vertical space on the back wall not being used between the existing shelves. I would replace the back wall rods/shelves with four horizontal open shelves spaced equally apart. Then you can either keep things open on the shelves (for visibility) or use storage bins to help organize smaller items. You should definitely keep similar/identical items together to resolve some of the visual clutter and make sure you don’t have unnecessary duplicates. More on reddit.com

I have an old house with no closets. I got an antique wardrobe off craigslist that I use as my utility closet. Lined the bottom with contact paper and drilled a hole in the back so I can run power to charge my stick vac. Looks cute in my entranceway. More on reddit.com
