About Personal Property
Taxes are imposed on the assessed value. Vehicle values are based on the average trade-in value as published by the National Automobile Dealers Association (RSMo 137.115.9). The declaration form is due by April 1st. If you fail to file your declaration form with the Assessor's Office or the form is filed late, you will be assessed a 10% penalty. If you are a new resident to the State of Missouri or did not own a motor vehicle on January 1st of the prior year you qualify for a tax waiver.
