I am a big fan of colors, so my tendency is to go big or go home - my living room has a dark green shiny velvet sofa with a cherrywood frame, a teal loveseat, and deep purple carpet. We're currently deciding on what loud color we'll be painting the walls, so take my advice with a grain of salt. You may want to go with a brown, tan, or taupe color and use some of the brighter ones only as highlights. Dark green is such an underrated color for decorating! I would pair with an icy lavender, but that might not be your style. I think a good thing to do is look outside (making assumptions about where you live, but stay with me here) Lots of trees have dark green leaves or needles. Plants have various shades of green. Check out what color combinations you see and decide which makes you feel the calmest. You could go with a brown or tan, including those rich browns that have a little red in them. It would also go with taupe/stone colors if you want a subdued look in your bedroom. One of the bedrooms in my house is painted with a taupe color that has a tiny hint of lavender in it, and it looks very calming with the dark green drapes and bedding. A brighter orange or yellow might look nice in small doses - A couple of throw pillows, or a swag or throw. A dusty rose, or a beige that pulls a little pink pair well with green. Purple looks great with dark green, but it can also read "Barney the Dinosaur" or Mardi Gras or The Joker, so be careful. Burgundy also looks good with dark green. And you could always do a lighter green, like a sage. I think the only color I would really avoid would be Red, because it's going to look very Christmas-y. More on reddit.com
