Good Day,
I have a HP Pavillion that used to run Windows 11. I have switched the OS to Linux Mint Cinammon and after utilizing it for a bit, it's didn't feel comfortable with the environment so I created a Windows 11 iso within a Bootable USB. When I go on the Setup, it shows the following information:
I am unable to choose the SSD that contains Linux for me to change it to Windows 11. How do I fix this?
Hello :)
I am trying to boot windows from a flash drive using ventoy
However it keeps asking me for drivers
Is there a way to fix this that doesn’t involve me opting up the iso and “gettin dirty”
Regardless any help is appreciated:D

Just for anyone googling this issue, making a bootable USB drive with Ventoy for Win11 or Win10 and you get to the windows setup portion and there’s no mass storage device listed, is your only option is Refresh or Load Driver, there’s no internal SSD listed like it should? Same here!
The fix started with a Framework laptop post by their support team that said one of the issues causing this for their laptops is the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver isn’t included in the ISO for Win11 or Win10, along with another issue I had for my other PC regarding Bluetooth and WiFi modules AX201 not being included in the ISO as well.
Anyways, the fix was to go into my UEFI (ASUS ROG type) and just completely disable intel RST. Once I did that I tried the Ventoy USB again and my storage drive showed up like normal and I was able to reinstall Win11.
I had wrongly assumed that the support for the Intel RST would be inside the motherboard itself and not necessary for the ISO to have, which in hindsight seems dumb of me to think but certainly seems like it should disable itself if the drivers aren’t located in the media it’s booting into… oh well!
So it wasn’t a Ventoy issue, it was as it always is, a Microsoft problem.

Dear DragonMals
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.
When switching a Linux system back to Windows 11, there are some common issues that you may encounter, especially if the hard drive is not recognized or selected by the installer. Here are some steps to resolve this issue:
- Backup data: Before doing anything, make sure you backup all important data as the next steps may result in data loss.
- Check the BIOS settings:
Reboot your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing the F2, F10, F12, or Del key at boot time).
Make sure the hard disk mode is set to AHCI, not RAID or IDE.
Disable the Secure Boot option if it is available.
- Delete the Linux partition:
Boot the computer using the Windows installation media.
When you enter the Windows installation program, select Repair Computer. o Select Troubleshooting.
Select Troubleshooting > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
At the command prompt, type diskpart and press Enter. o Type list disk to view all disks.
Type list disk to view all disks.
Select the disk on which you want to install Windows (assuming it is disk 0) by typing select disk 0. o Enter the clean command to remove the disk from the Windows installation.
Enter the clean command to delete all partitions on the disk.
- Create a new partition:
Continue creating new partitions using diskpart:
Continue to use diskpart to create a new partition
create partition primary
format fs=ntfs quick
exit
Close the command prompt.
- Restart the Windows Installer:
Now restart your computer and start the Windows installer from USB again.
Select the partition you just created for installation.
- Download and install the intel IRST driver.
Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver Installation Software with Intel Optane Memory (10th and 11th Gen Platforms)
Find an available computer to plug your Windows 11 installation USB into
Run the IRST driver you just downloaded
Click on the gray icon EXRACT (unzip)
Locate the windows installation USB drive
Open the USB flash drive and you will see a Drivers folder underneath it, proving that we have extracted it successfully.
With the IRST driver image installed, we just need to click “Load Drivers” in the disk selection step to recognize the SSD.
Click on Browse in the driver installation screen
Find DRIVERS=>Production=>WINDOW11-X64 and click OK.
The RAID driver is loaded, select it and click “Next”.
This way we see the SSD loaded.

I recently got my T14 Gen 2 (AMD) and was attempting to dual boot Arch Linux and Windows 11 when both the Win 10 and 11 medias left me with the error message "Install driver to show hardware" has anybody encountered this issue and if so can anyone offer a fix?
SOLVED: After building my pc I dowloaded all the necessary drivers and windows on two seperate USB drives. When I boot up the pc it goes into Windows 11 setup and is says Install driver to show hardware, the USB drives are visible but when i open them they are empty and it says Error: No drivers were found. Does anyone know this error? I already tried reinstalling windows installation media, reformating the USB, changing ports,…
Solution: Install windows 10 on the USB and then when you’ve booted up the PC successfully upgrade it to windows 11
I'm trying to install Windows 11/10 on my HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-1811no, but I keep encountering the 'Install driver to show hardware' screen. Here are a few things I’ve already tried:
-
Changing the SATA mode and resetting BIOS settings.
-
Switching USB ports and trying a different USB drive.
-
Disabling and enabling Secure Boot.
The issue now is that I can’t download the drivers to my NVMe storage because my computer is running Linux, and I can’t open the installation even with Wine. Even if I tried installing the NVMe drivers on another computer, it probably wouldn’t work since it can’t detect the NVMe drive and can’t complete the installation.
I'm not 100% sure that the missing nmve driver is causing this but i suspect that it is.
pls help
Hello JDias,
The “Install driver to show hardware” error during Windows 11 installation typically happens because the installation media cannot detect the storage drives—often due to missing or incompatible drivers or issues with the bootable USB itself.
Here are some professional steps you can follow to resolve this issue:
• Check your USB creation method: Writing a Windows ISO directly to a USB using tools or commands (like “dd” on Mac) sometimes results in bootable drives that aren’t fully compatible with Windows installation, especially on newer hardware. It’s generally safer to create the bootable USB using the official Microsoft Media Creation Tool or third-party tools such as Rufus on a Windows PC.
• Try a different USB drive or port: Sometimes the USB stick or the specific USB port can be the culprit. Using another USB stick, preferably a new or good-quality one, and switching to a different port (USB 2.0 if you were on 3.0, or vice versa) often resolves the issue.
• BIOS/UEFI settings: Verify that your BIOS or UEFI is set to UEFI mode (not Legacy), with settings such as AHCI instead of RAID, and that Secure Boot is enabled if required. On some laptops with Intel VMD or RAID configurations, you may need to disable VMD or set the controller to AHCI—which will make the drives visible to the Windows installer.
• Manually supply storage drivers: If your motherboard uses technologies like Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology) or VMD, you may need to download the relevant storage or chipset drivers from your manufacturer’s website, extract them to a separate USB drive, and use the “Load Driver” option during installation. Make sure the driver matches your hardware and Windows version.
Test with another ISO version: Sometimes, using a specific ISO version helps. Use the latest official Windows 11 release downloaded directly from Microsoft when possible.
• If all else fails: As a workaround, some have installed Windows 10 first, then upgraded to Windows 11, if the Windows 11 installer won’t detect disks but Windows 10 will.
• Troubleshoot for file system issues: If using a Mac, ensure the USB is correctly formatted. Issues like “Invalid BS_jmpBoot in boot block” suggest a problem with how the USB was created, which can prevent the Windows installer from recognizing it properly.
If you continue to encounter issues, it may be helpful to recreate the installation USB using a different computer or with a different software tool, and double-check your BIOS settings to ensure maximum compatibility for installing Windows 11.
Best Regards,
Jerald Felix
If you are unable to see the internal drive to install Windows onto, you need to go to the support page for your laptop on the Lenovo website.
From the chipset section, download the installer for the Intel RST drivers.
Extract out the drivers from that installer and put them into a new folder on your USB.
When you reach the part of the installation where you cannot see the drive, click 'Load Driver, then select one of those Intel RST drivers.
I recently got a virus on my pc and i’ve decided to do a clean reinstall windows. However, when I tried to reinstall a screen pops up telling me to “Install driver to show hardware” and there is nothing for me to select.
Hi guys, hope you doing well. When i try finishing w11 pro installation on my victus 16 s1034nf, the following error pops up : "install driver to show hardware". Browsing the internet, I could see that Intel devices had a manual driver loading fix but no AMD manual fixs ! Did anybody face the same issue on an AMD laptop, especialy HP victus? How did you get to fix this? Helppppp 😭🥺💔
