I recently traded in my iPhone XS Max for the 15 Pro Max, and received an $830 credit for my trade in. Little did I know, when you upgrade using this deal, they “upgrade” your unlimited plan, adding $65/month. So now I have Unlimited Plus ($90/mo) and then on top of that, The New Verizon Unlimited Plan ($65/mo).
So I literally have an unlimited plan on top of an unlimited plan. And the extra $65/mo defeats the whole purpose of the trade in credit.
Definitely not happy, and wishing I had kept my XS Max.

You can’t have those plans at the same time, you probably see an upcoming bill with prorated charges of both plans and then the new Verizon unlimited plan will fall off. How many lines do you have? If it’s just one you are probably better off with the new plan

That makes no sense. You can only have 1 plan per line. I could understand maybe they put you on a more expensive plan. You can opt out of the addins lie extra hotspot, disnet bundle and just keep the plan alone. Sounds like you may need to give VZ a call as of right now seems like a uninformed rant.z Your $830 phone trade in comes in as a monthly credit over 36 months that is deducted from your iphone 15 price over 36 months. And any remainder from your iphone 15 monthly payments minus the monthly $830 credit split over 36 is added to your bill.

Right now, our family plan has an option to trade in an old phone and receive a free iPhone 15/iPhone 15 Pro. We have to pay the sales tax on it/etc but the phone itself is free.
The salesperson said the deal might not last for very long and he wasn’t sure when it would go away. I have an iPhone 11 that is 3.5 years old, and it works despite having a somewhat crappy battery. How rare is this deal? Should I take advantage of the deal or wait until I really need a new phone?

This is beneficial to Verizon in that it locks you into a 36 month device payment agreement while the device cost is offset by a monthly credit. You’re tied to the service for 3 years or you have to pay off the balance to leave.

first off, NOTHING IS FREE! NO COMPANY IS GOING TO GIVE YOU A $800-1000 PHONE WITH NO STRINGS ATTACHED. the typical promo is usually $830 off, but it's over 36 months (e.g. if you get a $830 phone, $830 off, you'll see a charge of 23.05, but you'll see a credit of -23.05 every month.) leaving early or upgrading early voids the promo (e.g. if you leave after 18 months, you will need to buyout that device for $415.) with that said, details on the promos: there 2 types of promos, national offer, applies to every account. right now it's $200 off on low tier plan or 5G start. $415 off on mid tier plan, $830 off on high tier plan. Loyalty offers, account specific line specific. I've seen them range from $600 off, to 730-830 on 'any unlimited' plan. $730-1000 on a premium plan. these loyalty offers come and go. seen them stick around for weeks, and have seen them disappear in days. co-worker said they saw it disappear within hours. my tips, I'd consider upgrading if I have 2 minor issues, 1 major, issue, or if there's a feature I really want on a new phone (e.g. I went from s10+ to s23 ultra when they advertised the moon pictures, and when I saw my account had $1000 off with a trade in.)
