iPhone 7 won't work in a few months when Verizon switches to 5g?
Can I do this? Use iPhone 7 for trade in.

Is it possible to put a Verizon SIM on a SIM free iPhone?
Videos
Hi Yall,
I bought a refurbished iPhone 7 a few days ago and had to go to Verizon to buy a new sim card (current phone is so old, doesn't use the same kind of chip). The guy at Verizon said anything that isn't compatible with 5g is basically not going to work well in 4 or 5 months when Verizon switches to 5g networks, and that phones that can't get on this network are going to go in and out of SOS mode, are going to be unusable for periods of time, the new phone is a bad investment, etc.
Anyone have any feedback on this? Like, has anyone else heard of this upcoming issue, and if so, how severe it might be? I just spent $190 on this used phone and was psyched about it till I learned about the impending 5g apocalypse.
Thanks for any feedback!

On my plan I have an iPhone 13 ready for an upgrade on an unlimited plan. We have an iPhone 7 laying around. Can I put the SIM card from the 13 into the 7 and just get the 7 upgraded so we can keep the 13?
When I go to up upgrade it says “Total device cost As low as original price was $27.77/mo now discounted price is $0.00/mo $0.00/mo after credit of $27.77/mo for 36 mos on your Verizon mobile bill.”
So that means I just need to stick to the plan for 3 years and I get the phone for free /credited?
