So Verizon has a promotion where they give you 800 dollars off a new iPhone with a trade in of "any condition." Well, turns out it's only 100-200 for the phone and the rest of that $ is for if you sign up for a new line, so that money is fake but that doesn't surprise or upset me. Whatever, let's do this:
Brought them a phone my kids found in a storm drain that has a shattered screen and doesn't power on. Hard no.
Brought them an undamaged iPhone 5 that doesn't power on. They say it has to power on.
Brought them a totally-fine iPhone 6 that would only show the battery charging full-screen icon because it just can't hold a charge anymore. They say unless they can navigate to Find My iPhone and verify that it's turned off they can't take it.
So, in summary, "any condition" means a fully functioning phone that has a healthy battery that powers on, lets you log in and lets you navigate the settings menu. That does not sound like any condition; that sounds like one pretty specific condition to me: a completely usable phone.

The only thing they said that was correct was that the Find My has to be turned off to trade in. Otherwise yes, it could be shattered and not working at all.

“Any condition” is accurate in the sense that the phone can be run over and not turn on and we will take it. We can, if we can locate the IMEI, get Find My iPhone off with your help. The employees that day did not feel it would be worth it for a couple upgrades in their bucket. I’d like to apologize but aside from the storm drain phone those workers were being dishonest. It does sort of have to be your phone, which is why the storm drain phone wouldn’t work, because we need to find the IMEI somehow. for broken phones and usually that’s by opening the sim tray or finding it on your account.
