Need advice on HDMI output to DP input or if it's even possible.
Genuine Question: When playing on Original hardware and NOT CRTs, do you actually want truthful sharp images or a "Nostalgic picture"
Is Amazon Basics VGA cable of good quality and would it be able to go up to a resolution of 2048x1536? Thanks
Amazon vga cable, normal?

Hi all,
I recently bought a used M2 Mac Mini and I've been using my big screen for tv as a monitor. I would lime to have a dedicated monitor for it.
The pawn shop has a Dell monitor that has a DVI, DP, and VGA ports. I have a HDMI to DVI cable already. Is there a cable that can output HDMI from my Mac to the DP on the monitor or is it only DP to HDMI?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
On the left is a SCART cable running in backwards compatibility "AV" mode on my GBSC Pro. The right is the same very cable running in proper RGB mode on a PlayStation 1. SAME CABLE, SAME RETRO SCALER, SAME PS1 CONSOLE.
When we discuss ways to connect modern Televisions to old gaming consoles I feel this is a philosophical question that's never asked. Do you want the game to look as sharp as possible, or frankly, do you want it looking a little sh--y to give you that "nostalgic" vibe look akin to a CRT aesthetic (even though true CRTs can be sharper etc). It's a question never asked, yet an important one before thinking about buying a retro scaler, as any old converter off Amazon will do the exact same picture on the left.
I ask because with the right equipment, you can get a PS1 etc to output such a good sharp "crispy" image, it will almost give you an "emulator" look. Of course, your running on original hardware, but it looks like you could be just running a PC port of a game, or again an emulator like DuckStation. And my question is that what you want when you go out of your way to play on OG hardware on modern displays.
I know the answer is different for CRT gamers, but this is more directed for those who use current modern monitors.
