I just got a 1772e Emerex monitor with a built-in VGA cable (pic is from using an old HP tower with a VGA out port). I've been looking through threads and at sites all day trying to find an adapter for HDMI to VGA (preferably male-to-female for simplicity) but everything is either out of stock, a cheap passive cable, can only do 60hz, or $300. Does anyone know of a decent active adapter that can do 1024 x 768 at 85 hz, nothing crazy, just so I can play from my laptop on this monitor? If anything else can I use an HDMI to Displayport adapter and then a Displayport to VGA adapter without problems?

Wait, these things are available everywhere for like $5-10. Do you mean with a female VGA plug? Yeah that's more rare, but just buy a female-female coupler and it'll work with any male adapter. Not rocket science. Not advanced A/V wisdom

There are no passive HDMI to VGA converters. They would use the +5V line that is standardized on HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA. Passive wouldn’t work. I’m curious how you know what’s limited to 60 Hz. Sometimes converter descriptions are incomplete. Then get a female to female VGA coupler if need be like other comment says. That is supposed to be passive.

I had this situation a while ago. You can find cheap VGA-HDMI adaptors which don't actually do anything, they just change the connector from one to the other. What you need to look for is an Active adaptor, which actually converts the analogue signal to digital. I think this is the model I bought, and it's worked flawlessly. More on reddit.com

Hi, I'm realy sorry if this sounds really dumb 😅 I recently got an issue with my gaming computer and had to resort to an old computer made in the early 2010s I had around.
I work from home so although I'm sad I can't really game anymore, it's a lifesaver! Only issue is, it doesn't have an HDMI port. It's a probook HP, I researched it to make sure lol. However, there is this port I will show in picture 1 that seems to be to plug a monitor in, which I really want to do.
From what I can gather just from the looks of it, it's a VGA port? The only thing that confuses me is there isn't two screws on the side of it or any hole to be screwed. I'll show a picture of the cable I want to buy in pic 2. Can you confirm to me wether the cable I intend to buy will work? I'm so tired of working on only 1 monitor lol.
