Is there an app built for Apple Silicon that does this and only this?
I've found plenty others that also include editing and cropping and what not. I just want a simple (hence small) app that can just convert my videos to smaller shareable formats.
For the uninitiated; there is a great app I currently use called TinyVid, that does this perfectly for me. The only problems being it's an Intel version hence conversion of larger files is a bit slow on my M1 (with no signs of an ARM version in development), and the app size itself is considerably large. If these things are not an issue for you please do try it out yourself!

I've tried a dozen paid & free and always come back to HandBrake. UI may not be the prettiest but it produces the smallest size with the best quality. Also has a cli versions for bulk scripting.

My recommendation would be the renowned free Handbrake . Essentially a simple GUI for the awesome FFmpeg CLI library (which has a very steep learning curve, strictly for professional use)
