I've been finding a lot of videos I want to snag short meme clips from end up being MKV format., but after Effects seems to take issue with MKV when I try to import. Is there an easy way to have AE accept MKK? Or can anyone recommend a free desktop converter?

Is there any good Android app that can transcode videos to a smaller size in order to be able to send them over the internet?
Maybe something like Handbrake/Shutter Encoder but for Android. Preferably free/open source but not required.
Do not have a PC at the moment.
I need to convert 1080p videos, movies with .mkv and other formats to .avi or .mp4 format without lossing original quality and audio.
Not an expert so need something that is simple and works.
Much appreciated. Thank you!
So far the best paid software that I have found is digiarty videoproc and wondershare uniconverter. If there is something else that is better please do let me know.
I need to convert ts. file to mp4, is there any free converters that can do this?
I used Handbrake and was very happy with the results….
XMediaRecode
They also have a portable 64 bit version too, which is great so you don't have to junk up your computer. It will convert to any device size or whatever.

I’ve been working with a ton of large video files lately for a side project and my laptop has been struggling to keep up. I mainly need to convert files between formats and compress them without killing the quality, so I started using Movavi Video Converter. It’s been pretty solid so far, especially for batch conversions and when I just want to get something smaller for quicker editing or sharing.
That said, I’m wondering what everyone else uses for this kind of stuff. Are there better options for handling really big files (some of mine are over 10GB) or for converting weird file types? I don’t mind paying for something reliable if it saves me time and keeps the output looking clean.
Also, any tips on settings to use for balancing file size and quality? I’m usually working with 1080p footage but sometimes 4K sneaks in and I’m not always sure which codec or bitrate to go with. Would love to hear what works for you all.
Recently downloaded Loom to record on my mac, but it exports MP4 files that aren't compatible with Quick Time. So now I need a video converter but I'm concerned about downloading any random converter off of the internet. Is there something in the App Store that's free and reliably safe to use?
Back in the late 2000s and early 2010s I used to use Super for my video conversion. It was slow but it worked. Then in 2015 I found Freemake Video Converter, which was faster, had a nicer interface and was entirely free. It was really nice!
But now Freemake is basically crippleware and inserts their own logo at the end of converted videos, and I've read that Super forces third party software down your throat as a condition for using the "Free" version which is pretty sad for something that used to be completely free and with no bullshit thrown at.
Basically I want to know what are my options for a freeware video converter for windows that's not gonna be crippleware or a trojan horse of some sort.
Depending on your needs (in no particular order) :
-
XMedia Recode https://www.xmedia-recode.de/en/download.html
-
HandBrake https://handbrake.fr/
-
ShanaEncoder https://sourceforge.net/projects/shanaencoder/
-
Pazera Free Audio Video Pack http://www.pazera-software.com/products/free-audio-video-pack/
All are freeware / some open source, no watermarks whatsoever.
I've used the free version of Any Video Converter for years with no problems.
am looking for a good app to convert videos to .avi
Video's come in alot of formats, does anybody know why some prefer .mp4 and .mkv for their videos rater than .avi ?
I'm looking for a program (no online converters) that can convert file types for video, images and audio.
It has to support Windows, allow batch processing and has to be free or paid as a perpetual license.
Every few months I need to convert something obscure and in a large batch. I do some research, try to figure out how to use ffmpeg or those really slow online converters, and then give up. This time, I realized I already had an application that works for basically everything and with no batch size for free: Adapter.
I had previously downloaded it when I was younger to convert webms to mp4s and more obscure formats like MKVs mp4s. After that, I forgot all about it. This time I'm using it to convert m4b audiobook chapter files to AAC, and trying it, it's probably the most intuitive application I have used in a while. It's based on ffmpeg, but does all the work for you. I'll attach a screenshot to show its interface, because it really is only a single window. I'd say it's best for Mac users, and works for even the newest OS updates, but it does just as well on Windows and Linux from what I remember. I say it's best for Mac users because it allows ffmpeg functionality without having to use terminal. It works just as well as Handbrake, but I like using Adapter more when doing more than one conversion, since I can drag and drop all files at once and have them auto convert into the same folder without having to set anything up.
An underrated feature is the ability to crop the physical window size and change the resolution of videos, along with converting mp4s to gifs easily. There's an option to do subtitles and text, but I haven't tried it.
In any case, I just wanted to highlight this hidden gem and help anyone searching google and reddit for an easy way to convert videos and images for free.
Note: Handbrake has more options if you are working with H264. If you don't know what that means, use Adapter. If you need to recommend a converter application to a tech illiterate friend or coworker, use Adapter. This is not an ad for adapter, and I have no idea how they make money since there are no donation popups.
Note 2: Please comment any situations in which Handbrake or ffmpeg would be better than Adapter for people finding this from search results. I believe this is the best application by far for image and audio conversions, though.

Hello everyone!
I'm looking for an app that can convert a 4K video file to 1080p. What's your favorite video converter app for Android? Both free and paid app suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for reading!
I need to convert .MOV files to .MP4 as I use iPhone and my friend on android isn’t able to view them on their phone.
Which platform should I use to be able to effectively:
-
Convert .MOV to .MP4
-
Video size should be same as original
-
Video quality should be same as original
Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Are there any free good softwares I can use to convert .mov video files to mp4? Every time I’m being send videos in .mov format, I’m not able to view them on my windows laptop or on the default players e.g film & TV. Thanks!
So I have a agptek mp3 player and I was trying to get my mp4's of tv shows that I have on itunes. They have to get converted into a different file, Like MOV, or AVI so they can work with the AMV file converter. First I searched the internet and could not find any thing that supports more than 100 Megabytes that makes you pay for there premium service. Than I tried VLC which glitched up the video.
So I'm wondering if any of yall know a software which can convert video files for free. I have handbreak which I don't trust due to it glitching my dvd's video up and I had to use a old 2005 dvd decoder which had the DNA productions jingle at the end.
So far, I've used a bunch of different websites but I would like to settle for a better option like a proper software.
