As someone who had to pick out siding recently, I will tell you a blanket statement is really hard to just say double. Are you comparing to vinyl or aluminum horizontal? Is it insulated? Is the horizontal single or double? Is the b&b vinyl? Is b&b 7”, 8”, 12” wide. There is LP smart board, cement fiber products, traditional wood, Hardie. I would figure how many squares of siding which is 100 sq feet or how many boxes you need and go on websites and get prices then know that some options are more labor intensive so it would be extra to install. You can also take your plan to many lumber companies or even menards project desk and they give you quotes for free. More on reddit.com

I would get hardie in the front at least. Then you can do vinyl lap around the rest. The vinyl batten looks and feels super plastic (surprise... because it is) up close. You can get away with it on gables, but you'll dislike the look and feel if it's right next to your front door
