Sounds like a bad tach. Turn on the car with the key and then immediately press and hold the control button on the antenna receiver, continue to hold until the Led lights solid, then release. Tach is now learned. Try and remote start it again, that should fix it. More on reddit.com

I’m livid that I just bought a viper smart start and I can’t activate it…. Directed is no help over the phone because I’m the end user and not a certified installer.. any advice is greatly appreciated.
I bought their alarm system and installed it myself. Decided I wanted to go back and get the gps smart start add on… can’t register it though. What a gimmick
