An important point. It’s your physical permanent address, not your tax home. The boards of nursing couldn’t give less of a shit where your tax home is. A good rule of thumb is that your nursing license is like your drivers license. Whenever you move and need to change one, you probably have to change the other. More on reddit.com

You can get a license in any state. You do not need to live there. Go to the Va BON website and apply for License by Endorsement. Once you set up residency and get a SC license, you can get a compact license. At that point you can work in any compact state as long as you maintain a residence in SC. Once you permanently move from a compact state to a non-compact state, you lose your compact license and your SC license will become a single state license. More on reddit.com
