Introduction to the viridis color maps
It is immediately clear that the “rainbow” palette is not perceptually uniform; there are several “kinks” where the apparent color changes quickly over a short range of values. This is also true, though less so, for the “heat” colors. The other scales are more perceptually uniform, but “viridis” stands out for its large perceptual range.

Color palette for a PhD thesis?
I used the same colors as in one publication that contains some of my results. For me, that’s orange, medium blue and a light yellowish green. Other than that, try the palette creation tool thing on the adobe illustrator website. You can create palettes with high contrast, color-blind including or just fitting into a theme. My pet peeve: green and red combined. There are many people with red-green blindness and I was taught from the start to avoid that combo, so I immediately notice if somebody doesn’t care. r/YarnAddicts on Reddit: viridis color palette
February 16, 2023 -
Hi all,
I would like to crochet an afghan for my friend to congratulate her on finishing her master's degree. We both use the viridis palette from MATLAB a lot when making scientific figures so I thought it funny to make a blanket with the same colors. The banner on this subreddit has a good gradient from yellow, green, blue, purple. Does anyone know what yarn it is? Or if anyone can suggest a yarn that has these colors? Preferably a bulky, wool or wool blend?
This is matlab viridis color palette.

Viridis color palettes in Power BI theme files - Data Savvy
April 25, 2022 - I am a fan of the viridis color palettes available in python and R, so I decided to make Power BI theme files for each of the 4 color maps (viridis, inferno, magma, plasma). These color palettes are not only lovely to look at, they are colorblind/CVD friendly and perceptually uniform (or close to it).

There is no simple function to display the color scales in an easy way. However, you can plot out the palettes using the following script. The script is contributed by Prof. José María Sallan Leyes at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. viridis_names <-c( "A (magma)", "B (inferno)", "C (plasma)", "D (viridis)", "E (cividis)", "F (rocket)", "G (mako)", "H (turbo)") n <- 50 # control the smoothness of color transitionpar(mfrow=c(4,2), mar = rep(1, 4)) f <- sapply(1:8, function(x) image( matrix(1:n, n, 1), col = viridis(n = n, option = LETTERS[x]), axes =FALSE, main = viridis_names[x], cex.main = 1.5))
