Absolutely 0 value to the customer. The reason I try on shoes is to feel - You see, I have this thing called "imagination", so I'm perfectly capable of imagining what the shoe looks like on my foot. Feeling the fit however, is something that you can only try physically. Tell your boss that unless he also wants to find a way to automatically apply pressure to the customers foot matching each individual shoe, this will be a complete and utter waste of resources. Generating a virtual version of you is incredibly difficult. Especially making it the same fit. Creating metahumans is a complex task that requires a lot of compute power, and often skilled workers to create satisfying real to life results. Just projecting fashion is doable, but mostly for general look, not for the actual fit. There are already simple shoe fitting apps, things that don't rely on an exact fit. There's a company called zero10 you might want to check out, it's not exact, but they do a good job with it. https://zero10.app/ With the new AI and ML breakthroughs, I imagine we will see some more optimization and more accurate opportunities in the coming years, and it might be more doable soon, but for now it's just too expensive (in money, time, and calculations) More on reddit.com

So my workplace (shoe retailer) is considering adding a virtual try-on feature—maybe AR through the phone camera, or an AI tool that puts the shoe on your photo.
I’m curious what people here think:
Would you trust a virtual try-on for choosing shoe size or style?
Have you tried AR try-on in other stores?
Was it actually helpful or just fun to play with?
Do you think AI try-on is more reliable than AR?
Also if anyone has technical experience building something like this, I’d appreciate any insight.
Trying to figure out if this is worth it or if customers don’t care as much as the boss thinks.

Nope, my feet are wide and most shoes don’t fit me well. Every time I’ve purchased online, I’ve had to return them. Strictly in-person shopping for me.
